I finally got around to installing my alarm today. It would have taken 1/2 hour if I just bolted it on and ran the wires but that wasn't gonna happen :D

The installation is very easy. Hot, ground, tilt sensor, antenna wire and indicator l.e.d. Might sound like a lot but they all get run to about the same place.

I mounted the antenna and tilt sensor with velcro under the seat. All wires are passed up behind the left side cover and zip-tied to the frame. I made a bracket to mount the indicator light right next to the ignition switch so I can see if it is armed before I reach down and accidentally set it off. It is also easy for anyone walking by with less than good intentions to notice.

While I was feeling ambitious I mounted a fuse block inside the glove box and used velcro to stick it to the wall. Let's face it... there's no room for anything in there besides registration and insurance card anyway so now its actually useful. The hot is passed through the top of the box and sealed with silicone. All wires coming in are passed through the rear side

The alarm is loud and the sounds are annoying enough to get your attention but not deafening. There are 5 different alarm sounds to choose from or you can let it cycle through them all. The shock sensor is adjustable. A loud car or bike won't set it off by default but you can change it so a mouse fart will send the thing ringing. It gives a warning chirp if it is just bumped. Lastly, it has a current drop sensor for hotwiring .

The tilt sensor does what it sounds like. If someone tries to stand the bike up it goes ape$hit. Gotta fiddle with that a bit still and make sure it is set where I want it.

The 2 way pager is cool! It is audible and visual. There is a status screen that notifies you if any of the sensors go off... even the warning chirp. An lcd screen shows you what alarm is going off and you can shut it off or activate it from 1/2 mile away.

If anyone is interested I'll take a few pics tomorrow and post them.

Here's where I got it... 36 hours after I placed the order. These guys are amazing!

Yeah, buddy! Most insurance companies will knock a few $ off.

I forgot to mention that you can get the Gorilla 7007 for only $80. Its the same exact alarm minus the 2 way pager.

I found this link last night. Beneath the instructions he explains how to
install the alarm inside the neck cover to make it virtually tamper-proof.

The link is down this morning. It'll be back http://www.geocities.com/nc_brew/VTX1300TIPS.htm#ALARMINSTALLING

I added the fusible link to make it easier to get to the battery if need be and if I need to work on the fusebox I can disconnect it here for slack to pull the entire block out of the glove box.

The wire from the top is to the fusible link. The heavy wire on the right goes to the Stebel relay and the thin one is for the alarm. You can get the fuse block from any parts store for around $3

I made the small bracket for the alarm light from a piece of 16 gauge steel.

and the alarm is mounted in front of the rear wheel.

I have enough steel left to make a few sets of brackets. If anyone wants either or both I'll make them. You pay shipping and supply your own hose clamp :D
