I FINALLY found a sideburner sound clip. This was the original exhaust I wanted when I first got the bike.

Has anyone heard both the Cobra Speedster Shorts and the Sideburners on a 1300C? How do you think they compare??

I found the shorts for between $440-$460 shipped, what's the going rate on the HK's.

Thanks alot...sorry for multiple threads :coffee:

There isn't a sound clip I have heard that does the Sideurners justice. Sideburners sound like no other pipe and has a much deeper rumble to them then any other pipes I have heard. The Sideburners have a unique look so if that is the look you want there is no other.

These are the two clips I've been basing my interest on...

Sideburners (http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w183/bopi365/?action=view&current=baffle3.flv)
Shorts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmHZcqPtcR4)
(1st Half is stock on the Cobra clip)

I tried to video my sideburner, but it just doesn't do it justice.

Love those exhausts...lol. I think the cobra sound clip really keeps my interest because you can hear how they sound while actually going up and down the street, and actually pushing them. But even at idle, the HK's sound great.

The lowest price i've seen the HK's for was $550, compared to $440-$460 for the cobra. Any of you seen them for cheaper?

don't know how old my cobras were bought the bike used, put the sideburner on at around 18000 and the chrome on the cobras was starting to peel.

I just bought and installed the Cobra Longs...because of both of those videos.

I really like the look of the Sideburners, but was afraid they might be too loud...so went with the Cobras.

I have about 80 miles on them so far, none on the highway, as it's too cold...and several with Sweety on board. She's not FOND of 'em, but she's not pissed at the volume.
If a passenger or money is a concern,, I recommend the Cobras...if not, GET THE SIDEBURNERS they just look so doggone cool!!!!

My .02 cents.

My concern was also that the sideburners would be TOO loud too, but I found a baffle for $40 bucks.

Just waiting to see if my brother would be able to help me install them.

I CANNOT wait for these...:-)

Just got my first day riding in with my new sideburners on my VTX 1800C...Ive been riding for 11 years and today was as exciting as my first day with my motorcycle license. There is no other pipe for the VTX. EVERYONE looked to see what the hell was coming down the road. Sound was not too loud at idle...was able to speak to my passenger...but when you throttle up heads turn. Sideburners are my pipes from now on.

It is my understanding that their is a big difference in the 1300 and 1800 when it comes to selection and ability to create the sound you want. Something to do with a 1 pin vs the 2 pin in the 1800. The 1300 can sound like a HD. not an easy task with the 1800. Try to find people in your area with 1300"s and see what they have and how they sound. I know that is not much help but it is truly the only way. Good luck

Just got my side burners for my 1800S delivered on Friday. I'm still debating whether to install them without any changes to the fuel injection. I can't afford a TFI, or a Cobra, or power commander right away. Are you running with or without a mod to the fuel injection?

If you keep a stock airbox you shouldn't need a fuel manager

According to most people, you wont NEED a fuel manager for the 1800. Just unplug the battery for a few minutes and the computer resets itself. As for getting the most out of your bike, a fuel manager will be your best option.

That's what I have heard from others that aren't motivated to convince me to spend money in their shop. Thanks Charlie.

Sounds good to me, I can install them now and perhaps get a fuel manager at a later date if I want. Thanks SHiVMan.
