They look really slick, but what do they do? Will they increase or decrease my gas mileage? How much of a power boost is common?
Thanks in advance!

Basically a Kury Hypercharger just let's your engine take in more air, which obviously has to be compensated by adding more fuel "to the mix" and ultimately some more HP and Torque. It's just a more open airbox set-up, combined with a K&N high flow filter. They are one of the most popular airbox upgrades out there on a lot of metrics. But, don't be fooled, they really don't act as a ram-air scoop on these bikes. There are some other options out there that flow more air (Ultraflow, Baron's BAK, Thunder Tornados, etc.) from what I've seen and read.

Switching will definitely require a re-jet and aftermarket pipes. Taking in more air, have to let out more air. You can expect some respectable gains in HP and torque (i.e. 5%, 10% depending on airbox, jetting, fine tuning) and you'll notice a difference in performance. But, don't expect to turn it into a 100HP bike (like our big 1800 brethren---haha). You can only get so much out of the 1300 without some major internal engine overhaul. Doing that kind of stuff is so expensive, probably cheaper to get a different bike if you want that kind of power.

Thanks RetroRich, I knew someone knew the 411. I'll stick with just changing out the stock air filter with a K&N.

Between you and RetroRich, who needs a tech manual? Thanks again for the information.

It's refreshing to see there ARE people out there that "get it".
Thanks for helping spread the truth to everyone! http://www.vtxcafe.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Hypercharger + Louisiana Love Bug Season = Dead bike on side of road!
(When these little varmints come-out twice a year, I park mine for the duration.) It's like riding in black rain with a white juice filling!
