Welcome!
My family originally hailed from the Chicago area. I was born in Evanston, off Lake Shore Drive. We were hauled to Maryland in 1957, but still stay in contact with family members in Schaumberg, Fox Grove, Palatine, and other villages around the area.
A good resource for finding people in your area is at VTXOA, and their State sites like this one:

Hope this helps some...

I'm as NW as you can get in Indiana. Whiting. I can see the Sears Tower downtown Chicago from my window. You're about an hour or so I think away. Ever any group rides around here?

Not sure about the group rides...I just got my bike last September, and only got about a month and a half of riding in before it got too cold for me to ride...Yeah I'm about an hour from the In/Il state line....I get over that way often for work (truck driver)...Thinking about taking a ride this summer into the city, up on lakeshore drive..The better half has never been up there before..

You should, Chicago is a great ride. PM me if you make it up this way when it's warmer. I'd be happy to give a tour. I'm in Chicago all the time.

Welcome WTH. Enjoy the site!
I'm in Arlington Hts, just NW of the city. I usually go the opposite direction of the city to ride, especially before they get to the potholes.. :)

I'm with you beitz. I usually head up 12 past Richmond into Cheese country and ride the farm back roads up to Delavan where I keep my boat.
You guys actually ride in the city with all that traffic. You need your head on a swivel.

Hi BG,
When you ride up 12 through Spring Grove, you go right past where I worked when I lived in IL. When you pass Winn Rd, look to your right and honk.

Yeah Wayne, I know the intersection. Just not sure what business it is. How long ago did you move. They have built that area up quite a bit in the past 2 years.

I work for Intermatic on the northeast corner of 12 and Winn Rd. I lived in Antioch and worked in Spring Grove from 1997 'til 2005. I still work for Intermatic, but I live in Tennessee now.

Used to live at Kirchoff and 53 in the condos there many years ago. It has been 16 years since I was last in Chicago. Maybe headed that way this summer for one of my long rides from Denver.
