I have a '07 vtx 1300r, and I just had the dealer install bubs and a k&n filter. The mechanic there told me that I did not have to rejet. Does this sound right?

Wow! you actually have an honest mechanic. Everything I have read and heard says a rejet is not needed. At most, some will need to adjust the A/F a little.

no jetting required but you may need to put 1 shim under the needle if it has a little flat spot on acceleration.

Check your plugs after a 100 or so miles and if they are white you will need to open the A/F screw 1/8-1/4 turn.

Hello Charlie D, thanks for the advice and I will check those plugs. By the way love the 2 in1 exhaust and all the goodies on your ride! I hope to get a mustang for my horse soon.

What Charlie D said. Just a readjust of the A/F screw is all thet you will need to do.

thanks mscale. Also would you recommend blanking off the pair valves?

Removing the pair valves will help to eliminate some popping and the 'gurgle' upon deceleration. No reall effect on performance though.
I accidently removed the crankcase vent along with all the pair valve pulmbing. Make sure you keep that running to your airbox, and that it is not kinked.

I just Vance Hinces Bigshots with K & N Filter, and I did put jet kit in, and the bike wouldn't run hardly at all, was really cold nature. Then I went back to the original jet system, and turned the A/F 2 1/2 Turns and the bike runs fine now. Hope this helps some with yours. I suggest NO JET KIT. Only adjust A/F Mixture.

Thanks for the info. I guess that is pretty much sums up that. I adjusted a/f also to about 2.5 turns and bike runs great. Still thinking about doing the pair valve mod. Are you going to do this?

I'm going to be removing the PAIR valve system next weekend..I've had the block off plates for a couple months, but didn't want to be trying to remove the tank with it full of gas...Rode about 100 miles yesterday, so now it'll be easier to deal with...

Removing the tank whether full or empty is not all the big deal that some "crack it up" to be... I can barely feel the difference... I mean what are we talking about here... maybe 20 pounds or so?? -- Done it both ways.. no big deal.

Same here Scar, If I need to do something a full tank won't stop me sometimes I think it is even better as I really take the time.

Hmmmm...I just figured it would be easier with less fuel in it...Oh well, live and learn....
