Hello evreyone, I own a 2005 vtx1300c(6.5kmiles), had dealer put on V&H Big shots and jet kit. Awsome ride until now(3 years later), took out these last couple days, from storage (my garage) anyway, the bike bogs at low rpms so I have to keep it reved up a little so it doesn't bog, as soon as I the rpms go up it runs fine. So I did oil, plugs, and air filter and it feels alot better but i still have that problem, any suggestions?

how long was your bike in storage? Did you drain the fuel out of the tank or put fuel stableizer in it? You may need your carbs clean if you didn't do either one.

Hi Mr..VTX...welcome. What part of Chicago you from. I'm from Buffalo Grove.

Rough running could be from fuel stabilizer like Alan mentioned. My first tank after winter storage runs pretty rough too. Just do lots of riding to burn it off (good luck this weekend). First full tank with fresh gas will do wonders.

What you also might consider is after a tank or two, put in some Chevron Techron. This will clean your carb and also works on fuel injectors too.

Have fun. Maybe we'll see you around town.

Thanks for the response fellas. It sat for 3 months probably 3/4 tank full. I run premium also just last year I started using 104 octane additive, I was also thinking maybe that sat to long and went bad, I started it and road it to the gas station and topped it off with some fresh gas, (1gal) so i will run it empty. I didn't use stabilizer cuz the dealer said not too, Also now that I think of it added some of the remainder octane , maybe it went bad? Oh yeah I am from Northlake, soon i will post some pics. Also should the gap be on th standard NGK plugs? Thanks.

First off, DO NOT use any octane additive. Use straight 87 octane gas. It is a lower compustable fuel and will burn cleaner. Check out this thread http://www.vtxcafe.com/showthread.php?t=2024 there is probably more than you care to know about octane. Bottom line...use 87.

second that on the 87 don't waste the money on anything else.

gas can go bad in a month or two so some fresh will maybe work if not you will need to drop the float bowl and clean the jets

Sea Foam added to the gas works great for cleaning out the crud...I added some to mine during winter storage (and truthfully we had such a mild one here that I did get out on it several times), and I have had no issues. I just started riding the bike into work today, and may be doing so Monday, too (if there's no rain!).

BTW---Welcome, from a former Chicagoan...(I was relocated on my first Birthday in 1957...My older brother swears the city threw us out because of me...). I was born in Evanston, up off North Shore. I still have cousins around your area.

I thought Sea Foam was more of a fuel stabilizer than a cleaner. At least, that's how I use it.

And stop rubbing it in about the mild winter before I send you some snow. March 21 and they are predicting 5"-7" of this crap. I am tired of snow!!!!!

Welcome Neighbor. I'm in arlington heights right near the horsey track.

+1 on the techron.
+1 on the 87 octane
-1,000,000 on the dealer advising against using stabilizer. They probably wanted to have you bring the bike in for them to fix the gunked up carbs...

+1billion on the end of winter. Rode a bit last weekend, and that didn't satisfy the jones... VTX Jones, I got a VTX Jones... I got a VTX jones oh baby ooohhh ooohhh ohhhhh
