Just wanted to say I love your stands pepsx. Good to see you around. I purchased mine last summer. Matter of fact the 1800 is up on the stand stripped down as we speak. You do a great job bud.

For those of you that aren't woodworkers let me explain just how cool these pieces are. Especially the baloon piece.

The work is called "intarsia" which is derived from the italian for "inlay". Each piece is individually cut and fitted together and each color is a different kind of wood. Essentially it's a big, homemade jigsaw puzzle. The colors aren't painted or stained on, they're natural to each kind of wood used in the design. To do something this complex is a tough job and to do it so well is amazing. Pepsx is my new hero for the week. :) I only wish I was that good with that sort of work.

Lazer? you insult me with Lazer? :D J/K
sly got it right with the intaraia, each part is cut out then put together like a jig saw puzzel, then the fun really begins with sanding and shaping the height (thickness) of each part to give it depth. i use many tools to do that the main one being a 3" drum sander or dremmel tool. its a long process. sly is also correct in saying there is no stain involved, wood color and grain play a huge part in making it look real.
the pic of the duck really show how grain can make it look like ripples in the water.

each one takes me about 40-50 hours to do. here is a pic of a scroll saw so you get an idea how the parts are cut.

I really didnt mean to turn this into a woodworking thread, its all Sly's fault, he started it by asking what WW forum :bleh:
and sly, your work looks great, love the drawer boxes, really cool. it takes skills to do that.

thanks for the the props guys
ride safe.

Always wish I had more time!
