Are all of the aftermarket pipes like the factory ones? I am refering to the chrome actually being a shield over the exhaust pipe. I have looked at the Hard Chrome pipes and a set from Vance and Hines and they are like the factory set up. Are there any benefits either way.

I have noticed that Most, if not all, pipes eventually change colors. With heat shields, there is little, or no discoloration. The heat shields are not exposed to the high temps that the actual pipes are. Hope this helps :patriot:

I believe they all have heat shileds on them for both discoloration, as well as heat protection on the legs. Due to the fact that the pipes run next to the leg position, I think they all have them.
Personally, I like the fact that the pipes stay chrom eon the outside. Had a 750-4 that had aftermarket pipes without shields, and they were first blue, then eventually black.
