Ok guys. Need helmet to helmet for a group of 12 riders to communicate with one another. Read through tons of info. All riders can't afford the Chatterbox option, need something cheaper.

Anyone use FRS/GRMS radios? Does the VOX work or do you really need to use the Push to Talk to overcome road noise? These seem a cheap option as long as you get a headset combo to work right.

Anyone use CB radio? Is this clearer than the FRS option? What kind of things do you need for this setup? Radio, antenna?, headset? etc.

Need to compare cost vs benefit. Thanks so much in advance for spending the time to answer this. Many guys are counting on me to find the right option, so don't want to let anyone down.

Last year my husband and I tried a couple FRS/GRMS radios with a few different types of helmet headsets (including Nady). I was a new rider and we were short on funds. Push to talk would have worked, but we didn't want all the wires running to the handle bars and another thing for me to look for (PTT button). There was too much of a delay with the VOX. You would have to say 3 words before it would register your voice and transmit. We never took any of the combinations we tried on a ride. We gave up trying to make these work and learned more hand signals.

I am hoping to save enough money to buy some ScalaRiders.

Good luck in year search.
