Anyone up the viscosity of the fork oil for a firmer ride? Seems like the front is a bit too soft. Stock is 10w Anyone try 20w?

most just go to the progresive springs, don't think you would want to go over 15 wt if you tried just the fluid

+1

Just put Progressives in my 1800 with 10 wt. Did so because 1/2 of my travel was 'gone/being used' with me and mine just sitting on the bike.

The Progressives picked the front end up and got rid of most of the 'diving' associated with the front brakes. Hard to describe, but rides higher and better.

Thicker oil will only slow the fork action,,, slow to go down, slow to come back

I believe you'd be happier with the springs. The pic of the front of you bike makes it look like it's 'sagging' in the forks.

1300 springs are reasonably easy to replace compared to an 1800. My 1800's were not that bad.

Change the fork oil when you are in there. I siphoned mine out, dropped in another 4 oz of fluid, jacked it up and down several times, siphoned again and filled to the level specified in the shop manual.

Good luck!

I replaced my spring yesterday, better ride as was stated and the cost is quite affordable HDL was 64.00. I will be replacing the steering bearing in a couple of week so I will change the oil when the tubes are off, the 10w oil has been very hard to find may have to go to the local stealers.

Yup, I had to go to the stealer. Any motorcycle dealer (or maybe repair shop) should have fork oil.

well thanks for the reply's guys, prob would be best to go ahead with the progressive springs. I will have to wait for those I guess. The pic in my sig is photoshoped a bit to make the bike look lowered.:D
