So, remember back last years when we thought $1.90 a gallon was crazy?
So what are you paying for a gallon?

$2.52 as of today, who know about tomorrow.
$2.57 in the Dallas area. I was riding back from Texarkana last weekend and saw a lot of cars lined up for gas so I joined the line. (I needed gas bad anyway...lol) Looked at the price and it was BELOW $2.00/gallon!! I asked what was up when I went inside and they said they were having price wars with the station across the street. I wished they'd do that around here! I was wishing I had my 20 gallon van with me, still, I saved a few bucks.

I saw one station here at 2.71 for regular. It is insane. The thing that gets me is that the oil companies are reporting record profits and I heard on one T.V. station, who quoted a stock broker as saying,"It is a good day for oil!" Someone please explain to me why the oil companies are allowed to make record profits and not pass a savings on to us at the pumps. Who allows this and why is it not considered "price gouging?"

It is price gouging, but as long as we need their resource we are screwed...

2.47 a gallon. Why? Because our fearless leader won't intercede on our behaif, like his Dad did. It's all about the futures Market. Bush senior threatened to open our reserves if the stock market didn't stop spiraling. Low and behold the market leveled off and prices curtailed. Jr. said he would not intercede. Might as well get used to it. It's not hard to see where his loyalty lies. I judge a man by his deeds, not his words. Evil always triumphs when good men don't speak up. So it goes. JMO. Greg....

09-01-2005, 02:31 PM
Well, yesterday it started at $2.47, $2.69, $2.99, and this morning $3.19. People were at the gas stations with pickups with the beds full of gas cans filling them up, so sure now the gas stations are out of gas till they refill.
We live with idiots, on the TV they are in a panic talking about having no gas, of course if every one fulls every car they have and every gas can the stations will run out, on any given day.
The same thing happens to milk and bread when we have a snow storm.

My thought on the whole thing is big oil will keep it in the 3.00 area for a few months and then let it drop to the 2.50 range, and the masses will be singing in the streets for the "cheap" gas.

Cape coral/Ft Myers florida area. I've seen low of $2.89 to a high of $3.19. I'm sure there are places selling it for more. We've had the same kind of idiot response with people buying in panic mode and filling up everything they owned while others had to go without!! I love going to SC. The gas tax is lower. Your gas is always cheaper.
I rode in Wed, Thurs, and today this week. It was raining pretty hard on Monday & Tuesday. Temps were low 30s in the morning and upper 40s for the ride home.
Going to leave early today so I can ride home in the daylight and not have 4 wheelers flashing their lights at me for a change. (my headlight and spots are a little high). Works for me, everyone knows where I am.
Have a great weekend!

Also thinking of going to AZ and UT in the fall of 06. 2,126 total miles 1 way. Service before I leave and as soon as I get back.
Thinking of doing an Iron Butt from Okla. City to Phoenix - Plus or Minus 1050 miles.

Hey that sounds great!! Your more than welcome to come down to my house or I could meet you somewhere upstate. If you ride down, my wife is an excellent cook! Either way I'd be happy to see you guys!! If you want to come all the way down I'd ride up to meet you somewhere (maybe 1/2 way) so we could ride down together.

RayBob has family in Utah and my Daughter(Allison), my son and his wife are in and around Phoenix.
Already been to NJ to visit my youngest (Lisa).
RayBob is not real sure about the ride west, so I'd be glad to have the company. Do you ride a 1300 or 1800? Just asking to gage how often we would have to stop for gas.
Also thinking about doing an Iron Butt from Phoenix to Okla City (1050 miles) then the 550 miles from Okla to Jackson Tn would qualify us for the 1500 mile Bun Burner

Just answered my question - 1800 - we would stop every 100 miles for gas. I'm thinking 2 weeks in September 06. Will keep you in the loop as plans finalize.
BlkXride,
Not sure when for Fla. April or May. I'm trying to talk RayBob and Dentkicker into riding straight through as a warmup for the Iron Butt. I told Ray that if the weather got bad we could stop. Better Safe than Crazy.

$2.49 in San Antonio. What's funny is that it's cheaper here than in Houston with all of it's off shore riggs. Gas prices are such a joke, when the price of oil goes down and the price of gas goes up at the same time you know something's wrong. Gas prices were a HUGE reason for me buying my bike and I am SO glad I did so. I still have my truck but it mostly sits in the garage now :0).
