Just my opinion, and I have an 1800, but seems like Vance and Hines exhaust put out really good horsepower ratings when checked on dynos.

Check out some guys in your area (other 1300 and 1800 X riders) and see what they have; looks and type of sound you're looking for vary from rider to rider (what you like, someone else might not like and vice-versa). There's also some soundclips if you check out this site's sound bytes, as well as this one: http://www.kingofthecruisers.com/

Good luck!

Does anybody know if Vance & Hines are going to release the BIG RADIUS pipes for the VTX anytime sooooon??? I know they offer them for hd's but wonderin if they will be out for the X sometime in the near future. I went to the Easyriders show on Saturday and saw a few sets on some hd's. They are so SWEEET (the pipes). Are there any custom pipes similar to the Big Radius that are available for the X.???

Okay wonderin if anybody knows anything bout Vance and Hines BIG RADIUS pipes. OR any other pipes that are available similiar to the BIG RADIUS pipes. I really like these pipes and would like to know if anything is available. I have looked everywhere and cant find anything.

If you like the look of the stock pipes, send them off to vtxexhaust.com. I just got mine back last night and boy do they sound awesome!! You get to keep the Retro look but with the big sound that you're looking for. Just my opinion. The price was only half of what it would cost for a whole new after market exhaust system. :icon_peac

I love the look and sound of the Cobra Speedster longs on the Retro.
Me too, I've tried HK's and Roadhouse 2 into one too. I am happy with the Cobra pipes, deep sound without the cackle of the HK's and better quality. The Roadhouse pipes sounded pretty good without the baffles. But they stick out about a half inch more and got hot on my leg.

It is best to look at the aftermarket suppliers and also check out the bikes here. Find the style you like and then check out the prices on web sites. There are a lot of opinions but it is up to you to find what looks you like. We can give you opinions of sound and quality but style is up to what your tasts are. Now that being said, I say SIDEBURNERs RULE!

Go to youtube and do a search for VTX Exhaust. There are a couple of different 'comparisons' on there. Has led me to believe that the Cobra Speedsters Long are the ones that will be right for me. Nice sound, not TOO loud, and don't look too bad either.

If I had my 'druthers though...I druther have the HK SideBurners...but they are LOUD!!!!

I have to put my 2 cents in, Bub Huggers is what I chose. They have the deep sound and they are loud. It just in my opinion looked on the C model.

Sound, looks, or performance. You cann't have it all :)
The exhaust you select will have to be based on your priorities.

IMO I think the HK Sideburners are the best looking.

What youre ear likes varies from person to person, go to a rally and listen to the other 1300's. Thats the ONLY way to settle that.

For performance...Muzzy 2-into-1.....nothing even comes close.....NOTHING!
They incorperate a megaphome system, but may or may not make one for your bike? Many riders do not care for Muzzy exhaust. They don't sound really good and that megaphone IMO looks like S**T. unless your a performance freak reconsider them.
I built a sideburner looking turnout to cover the megaphone and love mine....
Do some more research before you spend your $
Sometimes wanting is better than having....Ask my three wives :)
Good luck

Thanks for the response...I am going with the HK SIDEBURNERS but now looking for an air cleaner to go with it...Everyone out there has a Hypercharger but I am looking for something different that performs well and looks good.

I've got to throw in a +1 on Bub's Jug Huggers.
They really accentuate the single-pin sound.
I have an r, and it's nice to be able to see the back tire now, plus they They help shed about 40 lbs from the stock setup.
No rejet necessary with about any pipes if you leave your airbox alone.
