who is getting 150 hp from 1800 engine. I am looking at dual induction, cams, high comp pistons, and exhaust. Already have power commander, induction and rienhart pipes. looking for real dyno proven answers not parts cataloge.

Thought I'd throw something out there since no replies yet. I haven't read of anyone thus far having the 150 h.p.+ 1800; but, with the set-ups you're talking about there in rebuilding the engine I would certainly think it would be close to or do-able if set-up and tuned properly. Haven't seen many with the 1300 or 1800 having the internals re-done so far.

I think that Rich is right, With the 2000cc kit thats already out for the 1800 and even a single carb set up with a Weber 48 IDA instead of the FI and a little polishing on the heads It should make the 150 number pretty easy to reach. GG :D

Tryed to do the 2000cc Big bore mod but Wiseco only had one sleeve and wasn't going to have another one for about a month or so. I ordered it from HDL during the Christmas sale and they called me and said that they were only able to get one sleeve.

I cancelled my order, I'll try again later on another sale. Actually Viking Motorcycle was a little cheaper.

I don't order from HDL myself. After a couple of problems with parts. Viking has been up front with me and seems to be a good company. I go to xtreme for almost everthing now. I had a talk with Scott over at Baron's R&D and there getting close to 130HP from a 1700 Warrior with some fine tuning left to do. A 150 HP VTX should be well within reach. GG :D

I'm currently running an Innovative Concepts and Design dual intake system with dual Forcewinders, Nology ignition system, Dual 100 shot Holly 2.5 lbs.NOS bottles (mounted on both the fender struts), Mapped fuel mgt. system, Hard Chrome Sideburner Exhaust, custom Barnett clutch and a few other goodies. With the NOS I can dyno 143 hp with 159 pounds foot of torque at Faster Motorsports here in Denver. This Spring we'll be installing high compression J&E pistons (most agree they are superior to Wiseco), porting the heads and running Web cams. We will be hoping to top 150 HP with these additional mods.

Sweet numbers; would like to hear how the next run goes and what the bike produces on that one after that round of mods.

Do they make the Total Seal Rings for the J&E pistons?? On the Pro Stock VWs I played with they were good for a couple of HPs over the NPRs or Cofab. I don't know the altitude or pressure in the room where the bike was Dyno'ed. But closer to sea level, You probaly already have a 150 HP bike. Anyway you look it, pretty impressive indeed. With the torque numbers It probaly pulls your hands off the bars when it's on the bottle. Keep us informed on the piston change. I'd like to hear what kind of increse you get. GG :D

Here's a guy who is a friend of mine... David Campbell at Designed Performance. He's getting 165hp out of an 1800 that he campaigns on the drag circuit. See www.designedperformance.com/vtx18001300.htm for parts.

He did some custom motor work for me a few years ago and really woke it up! (It'll keep up with a stock 1800....)

Hope that helps.

Pete

Dave Schoth of Camco Cams has a new web-site. He also is a good friend of David Campbell's. Check it out and see photos of his steel billet roller camshafts and billet aluminum roller rockers that unlock the power/beast of the VTX engine. www.vtxperformance.com

Qurious. What good is a more powerful engine, that is still limited by it's RPM range. My neighbor has the ST1300, and I can't keep up with him. His bike runs thru 7000 rpm, and the VTX1800 is redlined at 5800. Will more hp increase my top end? Can I get more rpm without shaking the engine apart?

The RPM limit of the complete package is 9000. This is achieved by the use of a stand-alone ignition and fuel injection monitoring system which replaces the stock Honda CPU and the Dynajet style brainbox. However, we have been able to make mid 120 horsepower levels and 153 ft lb torque levels under the stock 1800 Rev limiter. This will far exceed your friend's 1300 CC performance capabilities.

Be sure to check out photos of my bike at www.vtxperformance.com (http://www.vtxperformance.com)
I'll be adding dyno sheets very soon.
