Hi, My name is mike and I'm a newbie to the forum and I just got a new 04' 1300 C on Sat. (My first road bike). I've done 2 rides and accumulated a total of 50 miles so far. I had a little trouble adapting to the whole countersteering thing but I started feeling a lot more comfortable with it after yesterday's 2nd 25 mile ride. I don't remember experiencing that on the lil' bit of 2 wheel dirt stuff I did years ago. I mainly rode 3 wheelers and some 4, so maybe that's where I'm drawing the bulk of my experiences from. It put me in a couple of uncomfortable situations and weirded me out the on my first day. It ran me to the edge of the road and even into the grass one time, thankfully all at low speeds with no traffic around.
I'm loving every minute of it now though as the riding skill is coming together. Man what a nice riding bike!
Anyhoo, I'm wondering if anyone might have any artwork of the VTX logo that's on the top of the tank behind the speedo. I'm looking to get a larger version of it to take to a sign shop to get it cut out on vinyl and put it on the sides of the tank to replace the stock trim plastic 1300 logo. I want it to look a little less "R" (retro) and go further in the "C" direction.
Any help would be great.
Thanks, Mike

First off, welcome to the site. I'm new to the VTX and cruisers all together. I would like to suggest that you take a motorcycle safety foundation course. They are relatively inexpensive compared to the wrath of knowledge you will aquire. I rode sport bikes for 8 years before I signed up for the class and walked away with alot of knowledge. It will make you much more comfortable on your bike. So do yourself a favor and sign up today.
Either way, good luck and remember rubber side down.

Thanks for the advice Serge. I'm looking forward to taking it and learning everything I can. I do plan on taking ours but I will probably have to wait till springtime, due to the high demand around here. They only run up till fall so they'll be stopping in a month or so. I haven't called them yet but everyone I talked to in the cycle shops said it's like a 4-6 month wait. There seems to be a shortage of people to teach the classes.
Hi there Shoe612, welcome to the "X" world. This is off topic, but I noticed you're in Frederick and I live in Rockville. I just posted a thread in the "Maryland" forum on this site trying to recruit some people in our area to create a "X-RIDERS" chapter that routinely meets up. Please check out the thread, I have had my X for over a year and still haven't ridden with any other x's. If you are interested, let me know. I'd be more than happy to go riding with you on weekends to get some more mileage under your belt!

Welcome Shoe612!!! One other thing, when you buy a new VTX you are automatically in the Honda Rider's Club for the first year. They will reimburse part of your Safety Course expense.
Ride Safe! Keep her between the lines. Try to stay away from the grass, sand and gravel.

I second the motion about the MSF course,it will help you with just about everything. But for now, find some other more experienced riders to give you some tips and practice them in a large parking lot, like walmart. Also, look in some motorcycle magazines for a video called,Ride like a Pro.it will show you step by step exercises on how to ride better and safer. It's by a guy named,Jerry(the motor man)Palladeno. He has a few different ones out,be sure to get the first video.
