Had the broken weld problem on my Bubs, the local stealer (schroeders Honda Hendersonville,NC) sent it back for replacement.
He told me he needed both headers to do the deal, well after two months I got my pipes back. The rear pipe was ok, while in his possession they scratched the crap out of the thing, he will not do anything for me as he claims I did it on removale. I did the job myself because I could not see paying those crooks two hundred bucks to do it!
I took the utmost care on this remove and replace (duct tape on ALL chrome, rubber gloves etc.) so his idea of me damaging my pipes is CRAP
Anyway back to my question, is it possible to have this header re-chromed?
Or do I toss it and pay $418.00 for a replacement?
Thanks in advance,
Lee

WHEN THEY TOOK THEM IN DID THEY note the condition on the ticket? If not how would he know wheather you did it or they did it.

When he took them in he was going to send both in for replacement, but BUB only wanted the broken weld pipe.
So no, there not a notation of condition..........
It's like the old saying "you learn from your mistakes"

First I would point out to him that did he notice that it was scratched when it was brought in? If it was why didn't he note it?

+1 Big-X; I'd tell them to make it right ASAP since it's obviously something they did according to your write-up. If they refuse, then I'd 1) report the problem to the local Better Business Bureau, 2) report the problem/complaint to the local U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 3) find out the dealership owner's name and information, contact him/her re: the issue, 4) contact any local news authority/media that has an "Action News" type of person (like Don Griffin at WSOC-TV in Charlotte, NC) who will handle, get involved, and publicize consumer complaints. If you let them know your intentions of doing these things due to their refusal to correct the problem, they would hopefully "change their tune."
It's a lot of hassle, but should get you what you need because I'm sure they don't want bad publicity (what businessowner does). If it was a $50 part, wouldn't be worth all the trouble. But pipes is one of the more expensive upgrades out there on a bike, so if I was in your shoes that's what I would do.
Yes, the heat shields can be re-chromed; I'd only go that route though if you don't get anywhere at all with the information noted above. It should be cheaper than buying a whole new system.
Good luck and sorry to hear about the problem.

The deal was that BUB was going to replace both pipes due to the broken weld on one, carried them to him and they just tossed them on a work bench.
When I went to pick them up I noticed the damage, brought it to thier attention , then they come up with the "you must have done it removing them" shit.............
So if I cant get them rechromed I will buy a replacement and take every chance I get to trash them and thier business.....they give shitty service and do not care at all about customers after they make the sale, so if I can talk one person out of buying or using the service dept I will, it's not the replacement cost ,its only four hundred bucks, which is no big deal, its just this guy operates like he does and I will let everyone I can know about it.

You need to go in the store and let them know that they will replace the pipes or they will wish that they did the choice is theirs. In instances like this it is ok to go a little postal on people like this. they are the ones who told you to bring them both in so they are responsible.Just my feelings on this matter. Dont like it when it happens to me or any body else.

Thanks,
Those assclowns have a terrible rep in this area, if I ever break down in Hendersonville,NC I'll push it to the dealer in Forest City ,NC before those idiots touch it.

Why not post their name, address and a quick, detailed list of what they did TO YOU here and the HONDA BB. Inform others so they will not shop there. Then let them know that you posted their lack of service and quality on two Motorcycle BBs and see it that will get results. Like chicken soup at a funeral, it can’t hurt and may help.

I've had several instances with dealers of various types, including other brands of bikes and autos.
I have contacted the manufacturer (Honda in this case) and asked for the ombudsman. That person is the customer "representative" to represent the customer to Honda. Copy your complaint to the ombudsman, and be VERY polite in the process.
I've had great results using this process in the past.
If you get no results, burn the dealer on every site known to man!
