View Full Version : Saddle Bags that fit a laptop?

I'm ready to purchase saddle bags. I prefer soft bags with quick disconnect. Since my VTX has turned into a daily rider (I don't want to buy gas for the truck!) it would be great if my laptop fits into the bags.
Laptop is 11" x 13". Anybody find bags that are just big enough? Will keep stock pipes for a while and don't want the bags to hang too low.
Any advice or experience appreciated!

Has anybody had any experience with Saddlemen bags and the Drifter Elite Slant bags in particular? How do they look and hold up? Thanks for any input

I strap my laptop case to my pass seat/backrest, work out fine so far. Mine is a 17" screen so it will not fit in the Honda bags, I can check ond see if my other one fits.

Thanks for checking. I have a nice backpack for the laptop, but I hate having the weight on my back while riding. I have my stock seat set-up solo, so no back seat, just fender. I hope to get the solo luggage rack from xtreme revolution soon. I need the bags for holding things in general, so ones that fit the 15" screen laptop is a good idea if I can find them. Are aftermarket pipes generally lower beneath the seat than stock pipes? I've looked at several pictures and they appear lower overall. Maybe that would allow for larger bags? Thanks for the feedback.
Anybody going to the Ray Price H-D 'Bike Fest' in Raleigh this weekend?

I have the National Hard Bags. The loptop I have is the newest Dell D610. It fits without the PC bag. The Dell bag is too big to fit in the bags.
I keep the laptop in it's bag, sit it on the passenger seat and bungy it to the backrest. I just went 140 miles round trip yesterday is some pretty good wind and rough roads and had no problems.

Thanks for the info. I like your bike and great ideas on upgrades to the VTX. I live in RTP and travel to the Triad area a couple times a month for work. I keep looking the the 'Hammer' when I'm out that way.
I'm following some of the windshield threads as I plan to get a windshield and light bar soon. I like yor set-up, which light bars do you have and did you have to wire in an adapter, load balancer thing for the extra load/circuits?

John,
I have the Honda Windshield and Honda Lightbar. Installation was 'Plug and Play'. All the connections for the lights were already there in the headlight. The instructions were great and I saved $$ by getting them from HDL. Took me about 30 minutes to install both the lightbar and windshield.
Send me a private message and I'll send you my cell #. Next time you're in the Winston-Salem area we can meet for lunch or something.
Later.............Ron

I've researched the price and the Honda `shield and lights are twice the cost of any other manufacturer. Is there a better price than HDL?
I was thinking about getting the Nat'l Cycle swichblade system and could quickly dismount and resize as I needed. They cost $201 to $260 (depending on size), including the mounts.
The Show Chrome Contour light bar with mini-halogen spots are only $250 (i've read mixed reviews about their quality, I admit). What does everybody think???
If I get the honda line stuff, I can't get my saddle bags until after christmas...:(
I'll message you next time I'm heading to W-S. Thanks!

The bags that I bought are 27"X8"X13" and you can see them at -

My Dell laptop has a 15" screen but I put it into a different bag so that it will fit into the bag.

Odered the Saddlemen Drifter Elites (large) and Show chrome racks from Xtreme Revolution today. Will see how they do.
Also got lots of other goodies:

Will update with pics once installed. May be asking for install advice down the line.
Everybody have a great day!
