I just bought a 1800 VTX . How many miles do I have left after my fuel indicator light comes on? I do not plan on letting the fuel get that low , but you never know on some of those Texas back roads :hmm2:

Each VTX is different. Mine goes another 40 to 50 miles. There's really only one way to find out...

I try to plan my rides so that I stop every 100 to 150 miles. Around town I just wait for the light.

I know that some people have bent the inlet tube to get a little more out of the tank. This will actually increase your usable reserve. I just hate to mess with the fuel fittings if I don't have a good reason.

I have gone 29 miles and I have gone 42 miles, When the light goes on I am looking for gas.

My C model needs 3.3 gal at the light. Tank holds 4.5 gal. Figure the mileage you get per gal and multiply by 1.2.

For your RS model, the tank is bigger, but the principle is the same.

On my 1800R the light usually starts flickering on around 120 miles and is solid by 130 miles. I've pushed it out to 160 miles before filling up. This is mostly all highway miles.

The manual for my 05 F states that once the light comes on there is 3 liters of fuel left. I usually get about 130 mile before the lights comes on.

Ever since I put the HPP fuel manager on my bike I get to around 150 - 160 miles until my light comes on. Usuallly when I fill it up there is still about a gallon left in the tank. As others have said once the light comes on I'm looking for a gas station.

Unless you plan on walking, don't take anyones word as all VTX's vary. Find out what yours will do and remember that the way you ride it may even change that somewhat.

Very true. If I ride hard my light can come on at 120 miles. If I cruise and don't twist the throttle too hard I might eek out 170 miles but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I have the done the fuel pump and fuel light mod on my 2004 1800c. I do see i am getting around 10 more miles before the light comes on and if the weather holds up I will run it out of gas just to see how much it will hold and how far i can go on a tank. The fuel pump mod only allows the bike to use more of the gas that is in the tank, the light mod only allows you to get a few more miles before the light comes on.

I have an 1800N which holds 5.3 gallons. If i fill when the light first comes on, i need about 4 gallons. So, i just I have a gallon left and need to start looking.

I checked my 2004 1800c that has been converted into a interstate. My light started to come on at 104 miles and was steady at 110 miles. I ran out of gas at 142.4 miles. Stop and go traffic as well as 80 mph run with some at speeds around 70 mph. I averaged 36.6 mpg. The tank held 3.901 gallons
This may not be exact for your bike but it gives you an idea.

Agree with most. If light is not on at about 125mi I still start looking for a station. Have gone over 150 before I got out of the boonies, but was starting to sweat.
