Ya fellows,
I have a question about led replacement for standard bulb.
Do I need to add something special to the wiring system when changing standard bulbs to leds? Or just pull off bulbs and push in leds.
:hmm2:
thanks

The stock flasher unit is load sensitive and requires all the bulbs to be functioning in order to flash at the correct rate. The reason for this is so that the rider is notified when a bulb burns out.
If you replace your bulb with LED's and do nothing, your turn signal system will function but at a much higher rate. Over time, you will burn the flasher unit out as it was not meant to function in this manner.
To counter act the LED's you have two options. The first is a dual load equalizer. This is nothing more than a couple of power resistors that are connected to the turn signal circuit to draw power to simulate having bulbs. Show Chrome has this available and the part number is 13-304. There are several other motorcyle companies that carry this as well.
The second and probably better option is to install a digital flasher. Show Chrome has one that is plug 'n' play for the Honda Cruisers and the VN900. It is part number 13-306. There are also adjustable digital flasher units availble where you can adjust your flash rate (Show Chrome part number 13-305) but they cost more money.

As in the above post the load EQ will help with the fast flashing. But I would say that the 1157 and 1156 LED replacments are junk. I have yet to see one that was as bright as a plain 1157 or 56 bulb. In my opinion there a waste of money and time. If you are at any angle more than a few degree's to the side of the LEDs you can't see them at all. Some of the newer LED array Boards are very brite and probaly worth the extra money. But the simple plug and play 1157 and 56 replacments are not worth the wire it took to put them together. As I stated MY OPINION ONLY. Good luck with your project. I run the clear myself and am very happy with the product and I've seen the smoked on bikes and they look great. I will never have a LED bulb in it though. I'm sure the smoked lense will be harder to see the light than the clear. And if it's a LED 1157 replacement in there, I wouldn't ride it a night. Because if what you read is true 20% decrese in light. You wouldn't be able to see it at all. (Please understand this is my opinion only.) You may be happy with the light you get. But If you'll send me a PM with your mailing address, I'll send you a LED 1157 replacement bulb to see if it's brite enough for you before you buy one. If you are going with the smoked lense and LEDs. You better get a 128 LED array board instead of the simple 1157 replacement. They are very pricey but what's your life worth to you. GG :D

Show Chrome Accessories sells a LED conversion kit. They are not LED bulbs but they are a complete circuit board that fills the entire housing with LED's. I have them on my bike and people that are behind have stated how bright they are. The kits are plug 'n' play with the OEM style bulb base that plugs into where the bulb would normally plug into. You need to purchse the front seperatly from the rear and each kit runs just under $50. The part numbers are 10-1501 for the rear and 10-1503 for the front. I could post pics if you are interested.

but I don't have any tail lens yet so even if I will get some LED bulb I'll see nothing:(

Thanks for all information,
I've made a serch on the subject and have some general questions:
1. do you know somebody near to Dayton,OH who have the LEDs on the bike?
2. need4speed, I found that even LED conversion kit requires Dual Load Equalizer to provide appropreciate working rate see link: http://www.xtremerevolution.com/Store/sps-1520-0-1-show-chrome-led-turn-signal-conversion-kit-for-honda.aspx ,do you have such equalizer installed on your bike? have you ever found/seen red rear convertion kit?
thanks

I have attached a photo of the rear LED Conversion Kit from Show Chrome. I have modified since I purchased to have the rear red LED's instead of the stock amber. I did this so that I could set up my rear lights as running turn for more visiblilty from the rear. These are for sale as well as the fronts with the OEM housing and wiring if anyone is interested.

This photo is taken to show the number of LED's in the conversion kit.

I put those honeycomb lenses on the back of my bike and colored bulbs. I like those better than the stock pattern on the oem lenses. Those do look bright in the pic. How is the side view? Is there enough light? I like the look of the led's but am concerned with there being as much or more light and visable from all angles like the 1157 and 1156's.

Mine came stock with leds, and they're brighter than a pig with a pickle in his ear. I think it has a lot to do with the lens.

I just hate to put the money into some of those and then not feel safe due to there visibility.
Oh, I can't really say I have seen a pig with a pickle in its ear, however every area cooks there BBQ differently. LOL

I don't think it's the lens, It has a killer LED ARRAY board in there, With around 128 LEDs or more, instead of the 1157 replacment bulb. GG :D

I have just installed clear lenses and put chrome coated bulb inside (I got them from my friend). I have noticed that when the lights are on the front right light is brighter than left, moreover when I was checking turn signals I saw that the left is brighter than right??????????:hmm2: :hmm2: :hmm2:
Rear turn signals are the same.
Anybody has idea what is going on???
thanks

Sounds like your bulb or nulbs are not in correctly. Trust me, I went through the same thing and these guys straightened me out. Just go mess with them. One is probably correct. See if one is a little loose. If so remove and re-install. If it is tight, its probably correct.

Your welcome dziadek. Yes, there was a discustion on here a week or so ago about those bulbs not being very good. Better to be safe and use the others. Glad you got them to work.

I would like to add some information and further the question. I have replaced the taillight bulb on my 1800c with a 57 LED 1157 replacement that tests out at 4+ times the lumens at just under 3 watts of current.:) However, the 1156 replacement bulbs do not fit the turn signals because the 2006 VTXC doesn't use 1156 bulbs. The indexing pins in the bulb base are not 180 degrees from each other. The Honda parts counter only has a Honda part number for the bulb. That number comes up empty when Googled (I can't find the post-it note with the number right now.) does anyone know what the common nomenclature is for my turn signal bulbs?
