Hello fellers.
I have a cherry red 2004 R with Hondaline bags and the delux backrest.
It's not that my bike dosen't look nice (I'm still at the gaze adoringly while sighing as I take her out stage) but it's time to add a few things to make her sparkle a little more. What do you consider to be the more appealing chrome items which impact the looks the most?

A quick, functional and relatively cheap addition is some Kury Iso Grips. I think they make a huge difference riding too! Lot's of other things you can get: chrome shaft cover, Kury passenger pegs, laydown licence plate with chrome plate holder, chrome risers etc. etc. I know there are plenty of other places to add chrome. Have fun!!

Looks great, Big-X. Do you and your wife wear ear plugs?
I have a friend in Concord that has an 1800 with HK 3" pipes and he has a bag full of ear plugs in his saddle bag. He won't ride without them.

IMHO you shouldn't ride without them no matter what pipes you have. The wind noise alone can cause hearing loss. "Don't leave home without them!"

I agree. Wind noise is much harder on your hearing than louder pipes.

I'll stick with HDL everything I've ordered from CC has always been the wrong part and I"ve had to send it back. The phone support leaves a lot to be desired too. When I called on the last WRONG item they sent me the guy on the other end of the phone was like HUH ? WHAT ? FIRST TIME I'VE HEARD THAT! I'm not buying anything from them again. Maybe just my bad luck but I have never had a problem with anything I've ordered from HDL. Even bought a set of Kury pegs from them at Americade that had the wrong diameter clamp on them to fit my highway bars. I called them and told them the situation and that it was my fault for buying the wrong clamps. They said NO PROBLEM! and 2 days later I had the right clamps free of charge and I didn't even have to return the original ones back to them.

Hope you started you chrome fund. Just remember it has a never ending thurst. I would start with the functional items 1st.

light bar- be seen! and (they look good)
Brake light mod.- turns turn signals into brake lights, flash 3times and then stay on.
Engine guards- look good if you like them

Since there are so many things you can do; just make yourself happy.

Ain't it fun? And everybody seems to want different things first. I guess that's why they come in red, black, silver, and more, not to mention all the custom paints.
My first chrome trim was a grill cover, followed by solo grill luggage rack, ISO grips, ISO pedal covers, windshield, then lowers, then light bar and clear lenses, then fender trim for slots, and front fender, chrome tank trim, reservoir cover, chrome flames (cheap magnetic ones), and more than I can remember. But it still looks clean and simple without looking over loaded. I love the clean, sleek lines of the retro so everything I've done is complementing the lines....at least in my opinion.
You will have fun, too, while pouring money onto it, in your own sequence. I think the VTX looks spectacular with no accessories, so I took my time with them, enjoying each one before doing another......over 3 months. That's actually quicker than I thought.
