Satisfaction: The seat is not really an improvement over stock but BEWARE!!!! If the easily removable backrest is stolen, Mustang WILL NOT sell you another backrest. You have to buy the entire $600+ seat just to replace a backrest. I wrote this warning to Cruiser Magazine and RoadBike Magazine. Art Freedman at Cruiser contacted Mustang and they lied to him, saying the backrest was available. Sorry, but the company does not tell the truth and, when you have been ripped off once by a thief, they rip you off again in your time of need. I will definitely never buy another Mustang product, and I am very disappointed in Cruiser. I offered to send them the money to order a backrest from Mustang to prove they lied and was turned down. I guess they don't want to know about an unscrupulous advertiser.:icon_punc

I called them and was told I could order just the driver backrest. I did ask nicely and was politely told it's available...maybe the person you talked to had no clue or maybe you have a bad attitude dunno...:hmm2:

I know what they say but, I also called their bluff and no, I don't have an attitude. In fact, yesterday I was at their booth in Daytona at Bike Week and spoke to their sales guy in the booth. He apologized but said this was their policy as they can't just buy backrests from their supplier in Asia. (That's what I suspected.)
They also told Art Friedman, editor of Cruiser Magazine, the same thing. Unfortunately I couldn't get him to call their bluff and try to order one. I offered my credit card number to try and get one. Ya think maybe because Mustang advertises in Cruiser Mag??????????????
I talked to four different people when I tried to order the backrest. They all told me the same thing.

So are you saying the seat sucks....or just make sure you remove the easily removable driver back rest?
you stated: Satisfaction: The seat is not really an improvement over stock but BEWARE
was the word "not" a mistype.

I thought the comfort improvement was marginal and not really worth the price of the seat. Others out there may suit your posterior better, but then that is an individual thing, I'm sure. The Mustang did become kind of lumpy after a while.
As to the backrest, you are correct. Don't leave it on the bike unattended, which makes it a bit of a bother.

Mustang seat is GOOD to my bu**! Sorry about the back rest thing. I have one that I have never used but then I'm never been on a long trip. Seems like they should sell you a back rest without the seat. Just my $.02.

I am currently using a pre-owned Mustang and I think it is a great seat, sorry to see that you are having such a bad time with the company.
:hmm2:Does make me think of some form of theft protection, maybe and different type of security bolt head to slow down the crooks. :hmm2:
Good post hopefully none of us will run into this delemma but we now have some to think about.
