I have contacted Mustang and Ultimate X, and both companies have stated they have no plans to manufacture any seats for the VTX 1800 F. This sucks :icon_mad: really bad because that only leaves Corbin, whom already is offer a seat for the F model, but most users I have talked with are not all that impressed with them. I would love to hear more opinions on vtxcafe from owners using a Corbin seat for their VTX 1800 F model. :icon_ques
Awaiting for responses :hmm2:

I'm wondering if some simple modifications could make them fit? Where do you live? If you live close to me you can take my Ultimate off and try it on your bike. I would get a stock seat from a VTX and see if something could be made...the Ultimate is awsome!
I'm in Oklahoma, but thanks for the offer. I wonder what Ultimate would charge me for building a seat off of my factory seat/pan? That's how they used to make them anyway.

This comment comes from the man (des) himself. I just hope they design a seat that complements the F models sleek lines.

Dear TheCrux,
We will be building tooling for the F model seat over this winter and have the seat ready for the spring. The C model seat can not be altered to fit the F.
Thanks

I got my Ultimate rider and passenger seat a couple of months ago and love it. They call it a Mid-Rider vs. the Big Boy, etc. The biggest limitation is that there is no backrest available for the rider. The way they put it together supposedly gives you about 7" behind you.
The only problem my wife has had with the passenger seat is that she tends to slide toward me, especially when braking. I've got to look into some sort of non-skid cover for the passenger seat.
You can get all the info on the "F" seats at the following web site:

Ultimates are on my Christmas list.
By any chance, does anyone know who makes a decent seat for a VLX600. I know Mustang does but they are pretty pricey at $400. It's a one piece driver/passenger...so maybe $400 isn't that bad.

Yeah - the wait time without a seat isn't the best. It worked for me since I'm out of the country for a month at a time, so I just sent mine in just before leaving, and it was waiting for me when I got back.
I did have a problem with the passenger backrest pad. I had the Hondaline Sport custom backrest, and they set the mounting holes for a Hondaline Deluxe. They aren't the same, so I had to ship the backrest pad back to them. They made me a new one with the right mounting holes, but it took another month to get it. But it was worth it.
I got the backrest with the VTX wing design on it, and the VTX emblem sewed onto both lower sides of the rider's seat. Looks pretty neat. I haven't taken any pictures yet, but will post some when I get back home near the end of this month.
Seat mod, reshape the foam that is there and put memory foam in. Allot cheaper dude and it makes a great seat.

Hey Bad X, how long to need a seat for your mods?

I agree, That's what I did. I removed the foam totally. Put 3/4 inch gel over entire pan and 1 inch of memory foam on top of gel replaced the original cover back on.. Looks like original but it's lowered about 1.5 inches and comfortable!

turn around is usually 2-3 days tops. Right now I am turning them out next day in most cases but I always tell everybody 2-3 days so I don't feel rushed. All the seats I got right before Christmas are gone and the seats I recieved yesterday with the exception of one got done today but I had a appointment to get my bike dyno tuned so I was there till noon and I got a little behind but tomorrow I should be caught back up with what comes in.

Got this from Mustang today.
VTX F Owners,
Mustang has decided to start making replacement seats for the Honda 1800VTX F model. These seats will be similar to those that we offer for our other VTX models. Production should start soon, possibly by the first of February, with seats becoming available to customers hopefully by Daytona Bike week in March 2007.
The Mustang website will be updated shortly to show these new seats with pictures, prices, and part numbers. You will be able to place orders as soon as the webpage is active, but there will be a waiting period of about six weeks for the first seats.
Thanks for your patience while we build the best and most comfortable replacement seats for your 1800VTX F.

My friend had already made a Mustang seat for his F last year with a drivers backrest. A real awesome piece of work I must say. He is an apholsterer and does this for a living. He is really good with seats and stuff.
This seat was made out of a C Mustang seat with backreast that Mustang sent him without a cover. It was a lot cheaper without a cover. He had to modify the backrest part a little and cut and reglass for the contours of the fender. Relocate the mounts and set pins in for the attachments. If you know how to make your own cover, you could save a ton of money.
