Has anyone had experience with National Cycles SwitchBlade mounting system?
Is it sturdy and reliably strong, or would I be better off with the conventional mounting system.
I must say I do like the idea of quick removal or replacement of the windshield, I just don't know about the strength or reliability of the switchblade system?
Thanks

Although I don't have the Switchblade mounting. I have a few friends that do. It is a good system and holds the windshield tight. But it pops off in literally seconds when you want it to come off. I don't think you can go wrong. Unfortunatly I called NC and asked them if I could just buy the mounting hardware for my NC Heavy Duty Windshield and their answer was NO ! Also I have the NC Lowers and was told they also would not fit with the new mounting system. So I guess my windshield is just going to stay the way it is. Permanently Mounted.

I have a VTX1800C with the 2-Up National Cycle Switchblade windshield and here is some feedback on my experience. The switchblade system is very sturdy. I have been well into the triple digits with the windshield showing normal vibration considering the speed and have had no issues. There is some head buffeting without the chrome lowers, but I bought these for Christmas and hope that should solve the air turbulence issue. I have read other reviews that the chrome lower help, but will let you know personally when I can get out and ride again in the spring. The windshield can be put on and taken off in 5 seconds with no tools. My only complaint for the switchblade system is that the rake angle of the 2-Up and Shorty windshields are more vertical than they need to be and there is no adjustment to change this with the way the brackets were created. With the windshield off you will barely notice the brackets since they have a quality chrome finish and blend well with the bike. Hope this info helps.

Jaydoggie... the lowers do help. I have them and like them very much. Just be careful when you install them they dont hit the tank. You have to make sure they are in just the right position or the will scratch or dent your tank when the handlebars are fully to the left or right.

Retro Rocket,
Thanks for the info on watching out for the tank. I'm looking out my window at 8 inches of fresh snow and wish I could hop on my bike now. Maybe I should invest in a snowmobile or take a trip way down south. I look forward to spring so I can validate your experience.

I have the 2up Switchblade, I have to admit at first I was worried the WS would just blow off. But after 3,000 miles it's still there. The wind really pushes back on the mounts making it more secure. I really like it over the convention ones. I pop it off for towing and storing during the winter.
