The route through the Joyce Kilmer National Forest saves a trip through Robbinsville and about 11 miles if you are traveling between the
Cherohala Skyway and Deals Gap. The roads are decent and the scenery is great. The ride up to the overlook is about 4 miles and worth the trip.
