I just desmogged my VTX1800. After desmogging, my fuel injection light came on. It blinks 9 times, stops then repeats.... I took it to a local mechanic shop. They checked it out to make sure the desmogging process was done correctly, then took it for a ride.

It runs great, they can't find any reason for the FI light to be blinking. They left the battery unplugged for a while to see if the computer would reset , but it hasn't stopped. Now they say that I'll have to bring it to the Honda shop to have it put on their computer to find the code to turn it off. It's very annoying to have the light blinking while I'm riding. Makes it hard to enjoy the ride.

I'm afraid they'll find something even though there's nothing wrong with the bike.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me. Is there a place that I can find out what the blinking means? Any help would be appreciated.

As I recall for the service manual, the FI light flashing is an indicator; so many flashes means this, so many mean that. At least, I think's that what I read.

The Honda service manual covers this. I am at work right now, I will look this up later and get back to you.

9 blinks is for the IAT sensor, it plugs in the back side of the airbox. It could have possibly been left unplugged in the smogging prossess. The honda dealers can't use their computer on your particular year model because the computer didn't come out till 05 and they had to make the bikes with a special plug for the computer.
