Hi,

I have Hard-Krome 3" Big Straights and am considering a Kuryakyn Hypercharger intake system.

Does anyone have this set-up? If so, how's it working for you?

What is the Keihin carb model number for the VTX1300 (2003)?

What size main and lo-speed jets should I use?
(BTW, what are the stock sizes?)

Does the air/fuel mixture need to be enrichened? If so, how many turns in or out? Is it easily acessed?

Does the needle need to be raised or shimmed?

Thanks,
Chris

Ural guy are ya. How good of bike are they? I really like the looks of those. I think my wife might feel comfortable enough with a sidecar to ride.

Sorry, cant answer your question but you will get your answer soon.

The only real bad years were 94-97. Since '98 they've continued to improve. With the new owners (IMWA) since 2003 there have been even more improvements.

I've really enjoyed mine. Some pix of them are at:

The only two drawbacks are their frequent maintnenace schedules (every 2500km, 1550 miles) and their limited top speeds. The new 750's can cruise at 60, ride at 65 for short periods, and sprint to 70 or 75 if needed - but they aren't interstate bikes. They're most happy at 55 mph.

They Kury is more looks than performance boost just as FYI; there are some other airkits out there that pull better CFM just as an FYI as well.

Anyway, if you get the Kury ditch the Kury jet kit that comes with it and don't use it---not set up right for this bike IMHO. You can do the "Scar" method and use 2-3 shims with a Kury Hyper (read the thread in the 1300 forum on carb tuning authoried by Scar). You will retain your stock parts, not have to touch the jets at all and it's a very easy fix. Your A/F should start at 2&1/2 turns, and then adjust in/out as necessary to lean or richen your mixture (do like an 1/8 of a turn at a time for fine tuning). You will need a "d" tool, old radio antenna with the side crimped in or a spent .22 or .223 shell casing with a side crimoped in as well to adjust the "d" screw/AF screw on this carb.

Hey Ural, I have a 1300c with HK 3' pipes and I installed a Hypercharger Pro R and used the Scar method with my stock jets. The only thing different is I use a dyno jet needle and clip it by 4. I get less gas mileage, probably need to clip it at 3 to see if theres a big difference. I wasn't really looking for performance,( Baron BAK best one) more for the looks but I I do have more horses and quicker throttle response. The soung is awesome (louder, I keeping telling my co-worker he rides 1300r with same pipes, that I havent had any popping/backfiring and I really dont have to use the choke that much when starting her up. I'm a military policeman (USAF) and it about 11 of us that ride cruisers 3 VTXs and the rest harley riders. And I tell you what they all drool over my bike. I hope this will help with whatever you choose!
