I decided to start this thread because I have lived in Arizona for a long time but have not done much exploring. That is changing because of my VTX. The first ride I am publishing is called round robin and is a ride that encompasses low desert, high desert, mountains, switchbacks and many small towns. I have been on this route in a car but never a bike. If anyone has other routes that they think are exceptional please post. I am posting the map as an attachment so others may view.http://www.vtxcafe.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=804&thumb=1&d=1176092389 (http://www.vtxcafe.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=804&d=1176092389)I made the map on the HRCA site and saved as a JPEG and then uploaded to this site. I know there are a lot of Az riders and I am lookin forward to lots of maps and information.

Well I took that round robin ride today and for some reason that cold weather that everyone else has been getting decended on Arizona. Except for the wind and cold I would suggest this ride to anyone wanting to spend the day (8hours) checking out the state. It starts you in the desert at Fountain Hills rt 87 and ramps you up to the moutains pretty gradually. I stopped in Payson for breakfast at the Log Cabin restaurant (great!) and to stretch my legs. From there I lazily followed 260 west to Strawberry for some desert (pie at the Strawberry Lodge ). I continued on the 260 into Camp Verde (high desert) and proceeded to get pounded by the wind. Glad I ate all that food I needed the extra weight. LOL After that I shot down 169 into Prescott and was wondering to myself this is more like work than fun (the wind was so strong that I had to slow down to drive). I started the last leg of my journey south on rt 89 and ran into steep mountain grades and twisties. This was by far the most exhilirating and tiring part of the day. Finally concluded my trip by blurring through Wickenburg and returning to Phoenix. Last thoughts on this day... would have been better to have had a couple of friends along. Should have stopped in Prescott or Yarnel to eat and relax. Lessons learned, always bring some extra clothing and don't over extimate your abilities.

Does any one in Arizona know of anyone that has had a total knee replacement done and still rides his honda? I have to have both done but still want to ride. They are my wheels to freedom. Don't want to give it up.

When it gets a little warmer I think I will try your round robin route, it looks like it is pretty scenic. Course right now it just looks cold, will stick to the low desert areas.
