I am in the process of installing Cobra slip on mufflers. I picked up Honda oem muffler gaskets in prep for the job. It appears they are too large for the cobra's. Do I need gaskets with the cobra mufflers ? If so would Napa or another auto parts store have a generic gasket that would fit? Any other advice suggestions would be appreciated. So far the regulator lined up OK as did the muffler bracket.
I too am installing a set of cobra slip-ons. You do not need any gaskets since you are not removing the headpipes. Just remove the mufflers, muffler bracket, attach the regulator, set the slip-ons on the cobra bracket, slide them on, secure the clamps, install the heat shields and fire it up. They sound amazing. I have an 1800, but the instructions are the same. I put slip-ons on a 600 VLX and 1100 Sabre. No problems

Thanks much for the reply. I sat and had a smoke break and despite my lack of mechanical skills, I figured that there was no need for anything in the muffler. Went ahead and finished the job. I have to say everything went very smoothly, looks real good, sounds even better. Whole job took about an hour and a half. Went for a quick ride. Very Very happy with them. Maybe next year will have to graduate to HK sideburner, but who knows. There are so many choices a guy could go thru a big stack of dough buying tin and stuff.
Thanks again.
Great, take it from a guy my friends use to call Pipes. I went through Vance and Hines, HD Screaming Eagle, JC Whitney, Roadburners, DD Chrome and Cobras too name a few. Slip-on, drag pipes and full systems. I must have used 30 gaskets. THis time, its my Cobras and I'm done. Have fun, every model of exhaust has its own unique sound for each bike. Best thing to do is go to bike nights and check out different sounds. You will be amazed.
