Need help with information about lowering my bike. The seat height is 27.9 per specs and with a 28" inseam makes it tough to get both feet flat on the ground.

Can the existing shocks be adjusted enough to lower an 1" or 2? Is shaving the seat an option? Will new rear shocks and new front springs work? Cannot afford an air ride system yet.

I have done some research but looking for additional options. Perhaps by brand and price.

my friend lowered his with brackets that mounted to the rear wheel bolt then you just attach the rear shocks to that. it positions the shock back, lowering the rear. i think he lowerd his about 1.5' with just the brackets

For about $70 you can send your shocks to SOMTC.com and they will shorten them up to 2 inches for you. Had mine done by them and they look awsome. Alot cheaper than buying new shocks. Ride stays the same and you still can adjust the preload. I keep mine on the 3 setting for single riding and set it to 5 for two up.

Cougar did you shorten your shocks the full 2" or less? Any scrapping or rubbing from the lowering? I see also where they will powder coat and expose the shock springs for an extra $60. Really changes the look from stock all chrome unit. At $129 total still much cheaper than buying aftermarket shocks.

You should be able to get a couple inches just modifying the seat. Lowering the bike will make you cut back on your leaning and you will drag boards much earlier when cornering. I would do the seat first since that is pretty cheap to do and then decide after that. You can mod the seat yourself or send it to Bad X. I did/stilling doing mine and for the money I should have just sent it to him.

They cut 2 full inches from my shocks, no problems with anything. Rides about the same. Just a little more firm. I keep the setting on 2 for single riding.

Thanks Cougar, I think I will go with the full 2" also.

MScales thanks for the tips but for me the lowering is purely cosmetic. I will go with forward controls so the floor board dragging will not be a problem.
