So, I decided to let my buddy try my bike. (his first time on a bike) ...when he put it into first he pushed way to hard and snaped the screw part on the shifter rod.

How can I fix this? the screw part is part of the rod. It looks like I need to replace the whole rod.....Also, I looked all night last night and I could not find a replacement part for just that one part.

I'm hoping this is common and someone might know of an easy fix. Please help!

Thanks in advance,
Greg

If you actually broke the shift rod that is easiely replaceable. Here is a link to HDL parts: http://www.hdlparts.com/fiche_section_detail.asp

Here is a picture of the parts.

Thanks for the help. I actually went to another buddy of mine who has a small machine shop. He fixed it and did all the work for only $30. If anybody has this same problem I would say find a local machine shop and they should fix it up no problem.

Thanks again!
