Anyone come up with a good way to listen to tunes on the bike. I have been using an Ipod with ear pods, but I wear a helmet and sometimes they stay in and sometime they come out - kind of a pain...On long rides especially I like to have some music going. Any suggestions out there?

Thanks.

I use an Ipod also, but I wear a shorty helm and havn't had much of a problem with them coming out. I put them in before I put my helm on so the straps help keep them in..My father in law took a 1/2 helm with the pop in ear warmers and sewed some of the head set speakers he has with his intercom system into the ear warmers..They seem to work pretty good. My wife rides with him on long trips becuase she can't handle the stock seat for long..She says that you can hear really clear..Just a thought....

Thanks - just found another thread about this. They recommended Shure EC2's. Say they stay in well and block out noise - less than $100. I may give them a try...

I know some motorcycle stores have some kind of Universal MP3/XM Sound Systems and speakers that you install on the handlebar, but I have not idea how good or bad they are. There are also special helmet headsets, but any of these are cheap.

One of the Red Knights runs I went on, a female on a Vrod had this sound system. http://www.2wheeltunes.com/ She had her iPod in the windshield pouch and it sounded great I rode behind her and could hear it clearly where I was. I had a 3/4 helmet with a bubble shield. The speakers are small and sharp looking. I will be getting one when the $$ becomes available. Humm, my Birthday is next month.

Parker--I have the Shure EC2's, with a simple MP3 player. I love the earphones--just let's in enough outside sound to know it's there, but all you really hear is the music...they are very nice.

Problem I have is the battery life on the MP3 player...it's only good for about 6 hours at the most...and needs a USB port to re-charge...

Thanks for the ideas. I went ahead and bought the Shures at B Buy and a Ipod Lanyard so I could wear it under my jacket. I will give this a try.

Bubba - those are some nice looking systems on that site. Speakers really have a custom look. Maybe when my birthday gets back around...
