This is from an email sent to me by Jack Knochel:

WOW!! INCREDIBLE! I got this link from my brother who is a NJ State Trooper in the motorcycle division. This is some of the training he went through. Its two weeks long. He had only been on a motorcycle less then a half dozen times before the training. After the two weeks, he touched only 4 cones or other obstacles, not counting the cones and 5 gallon buckets they were throwing at him during the drills. You'll notice the instructors grading on the side and also throwing cones at the students and trying to shut the bikes down during the exercises.

Click on "Events" on the left side of the screen. Then scroll down on the right side of the screen and click on the logo. The video will come right up. Watch the whole thing and see how the one guy rides side saddle and with his feet on the seat. Friggin incredible, believe me!

WOW! Thanks Hammer, that was some incredible video to watch. The skills are unbelievable. I'm going to start trying to do some of those exercises; I bet they don't teach that in most of the rider safety courses you find out there across the country!

I wonder who pays to fix the bike if it gets laid down? :hmm2: I'd love to have a bike I could push the envolope in and not care if I dumped it. Then I'd practice , practice, practice.

I know what you mean, i don't want to dump mine either. Although, with the highway bars and the slow speed, it might be ok. When you are going so slow, you can always put a foot down if you feel like you're going to loose it.

I got the bug to practice as well. Some of us that work together are going to get together on the next nice Sunday afternoon in our work parking lot and try some of this stuff.

I would think that the police dept. would maintain the bikes, since they own them. I have a friend that's a cop in town and has a Harley police bike (owned by the Winston-Salem police dept.) and rides his own personal VTX when he's not working. Smart man.

I think the police training in this video goes a step or two beond the Advanced Motorcycle Saftey Courses we can take.

Man! Those are some ruff courses then to have instructors throwing things at you, as well as grabbing at the handle bars. Nice vids.
