I attempted to remove the two 6mm bolts on each side of the seat and unfortunately stripped one of the bolts. I wanted to put a battery charger on the battery but now I can't get the seat off. Does anyone have any suggestions in getting the bolt off. Many thanks.....

you may have to drill the head of the bolt off. Also try a set of vise grips first. Once you get them off I recommend you do the seat bolt mod. That is ..... take a 3/8" drill bit and drill out both bolt holes in the seat and the frame .... where the bolt goes....and go to Lowes etc and buy two cotterless hitch pins to hold the seat in place. just tuck the pull ring up under the seat. these seat bolts are known for tightening up from vibration. your screwed if you need to get to your battery for a jump etc while on the road. the tool to remove the bolts is not provided in the tool pouch. I went a little further and drilled and tapped a solid door pull from Lowes to fit the rear seat bolt also. now iI can remove my seat without the need for tools. hope this helps

Drill the stripped bolt head and then use a easy out. A dremel tool can also be used to cut or grind a slot in the stripped bolt head.

Try using the appropriate Torx head. it will get into the corners of the nut without binding on the metal you have piled up in the flat spots. thats what worked for me!

And when you do get it out and if you decide to use another bolt put neversieze on the threads and don't overtighten.

Do the seat pin mod...AWESOME! Probably the best mod out there. You'll need to take your seat off from time to time, sure is cool to have it off in 5 seconds. I used a 3/8" drill bit and drilled out the holes, and then put a 3/8" x 1 1/8" ball pin in it. Highly recommended! Put the 4 suction cups on the bottom of my pillion as well. Real fast to get to the solo look. Wife can't tell the difference.

Definitly do the pin Mod its great. I mounted a marine cigarette lighter next to my key switch you can use one of those lighter to lighter jumper cables that way doesnt take up much room and it only takes a few min. to charge up enough to start. (Left my key on one time) and you can plug other goodies in it like a gps.

Do it now. By the time its nice out, you will still be in the garage working, while others are out riding. Don't ask me how I know. :icon_redf

You might also try left handed drill bits. They have come in handy for many stripped bolts in the past. Spray a little penetratant on the bolts first (PB Blaster, Kroil, etc) and let it soak for a while. Good luck!
