Hi All!!! Long time!!!!!
I just came in off the road to ask your opinion about audio. Now, while I do not relish the thought of talking on a cell phone while riding, my cell phone (A Palm Treo 700wx) does have the capability of providing me hours of music, thus bringing me to this point/question.
I would like to be able to listen to music from my Treo via bluetooth, as well as XM or Sirius radio. I do not need to be able to answer phone calls though.
Now, I KNOW one of you smart people out there have done this, or can provide some guidance. :-) :-)
Happy trails, and I look forward to hearing from you all soon!!!

Run a search for a Scala Rider bluetooth headset. I think that will do what you want.

I have the Treo 700wx. It does not have the capability to xmit audio. Bluetooth is only for calls. You have to use the wire headset, sorry.

Bummer...OK, what about XM or Sirius then? Is that a software upgrade or hardware?

OK, I finally got it figured out. The Treo 700wx DOES stream music over bluetooth, using the Motorola S705 SoundPilot, and it rocks. Not the best sound I ever heard, but not too bad either. It also works with my Shure EC2's, so that's good. I can take calls, although I probably won't...and it's on a pendant that hangs anywhere you want it to, or put it on your belt. I'm happy to help anyone on this adventure of music and riding if i can.

nope the scala will not let you listen to the mp3s on your phone it does not support a2dp or something like that for leisteneing to sterio music from phones
but if you have the garmin zumo 550 gps you can use its bluetooth and mp3 player (according to scala) the garmin does not play the mp3s in sterio so it will work. and you can hear turn by turn directions

Motorola S9 work pretty decent. I use the S9 from time to time when cruising round town without a helmet. blue tooth stereo via my phone, with volume up down, take call or ignore. Not much good past 55mph without a shield

I have the Scala rider Q2. I cannot transmit mp3s from my blackberry to my scala.
However, I can attach the supplied cord from the scala head set to an "audio" device.
I connected to an AM/FM radio as well as my blackberry and got sound that way. The problem I run into is when you attach the scala to an audio device all volume is controlled via the "audio device. I find this to be complicated while wearing gloves and one handed.
I don't want to hijack the thread but I just need to find out if the scala will pair with a CB radio otherwise I need to go with J&M.
The bluetooth phone link is handy. You can answer the call just by speaking. To call I find I have to press the button.

Hows that nolan working out for you?
:hmm2:With mine, I can get calls and with a garmin adapter listen to my ipod, but i am far less than impressed with the navi ability. Why would they make something that is so unfriendly. It only communicates with 4-5 different nav systems and some of those are out of production they are so old. I hope that they will be catching up soon.

My wireless Bluetooth adventure started out with a tom-tom rider a few weeks ago. I had the UN original idea that I would listen to a Bluetooth enabled mp3 player via the provided scala solo I got with my gps. Bought a Phillips Bluetooth mp3 player and found out I must upgrade my headset to a A2DP Bluetooth enabled device. It turns out that you have to upgrade to the scala q2 if you want to try this and there is no guarantee that it is going to work with your phone or Bluetooth device. All though as mentioned before you can hardwire your mp3 player to the headset. Which defeats the whole wireless thing. You have to be careful of what you buy because the device may not work with all the devices you want to sync with. In my case the tom-tom, an Iphone, and the mp3 player all while wanting to to talk bike to bike with other riders. A friend recommended the Collette Communicator brand of Bluetooth headset. I have ordered a set for myself but have not received it yet, but will fill you in on how it goes. At this point I’m thinking I may have been better off buying a set of amplified speakers, but as in the past I will not be deterred. No matter how much of my kid’s college fund I spend.. Ha-ha this has been a real expensive experiment so far. I will keep you up to date on how it goes.
Just got a set of these http://www.alteclansing.com/index.php?file=north_product_detail&iproduct_id=backbeat_906 IMHO you are better off with the wired ear buds although the blue tooth works great and sounds great it wont go loud enough to hear over my pipes and have not tried them with a full face helmet yet but I will one day, I am also looking at a new helmet vega is putting out called V tunes but I am waiting on a dealer to get one so I can see how it does before I buy one, The set up I use right now is a pioneer inno with a mini amp and sport earbuds ,the kind with a hook that goes around your ears.
I FINALLY found someone at Nolan who was not a computer, and was helpful. That is all it took. We tweaked the ncom system a bit, and now the helmet recieves my new phone (Samsung Rugby), the built-in gps nav system in my phone, and my ipod (with adaptor). The helmet even prioritizes so that the music will be interrupted for new directions or traffic alerts from the gps or an incoming call. The new phone also has a slot for a 4gig sd card so that i can load 10k? songs and dont have to bring the ipod.
I have not tried it out for more than walking around the living room yet, but once the electrical chaos is dealt with on the bike, I will give it a real test. Will update then.

Collett Communicators RaceFone
Ok guys I found a pretty good option for bike to bike communication and the ability to listen to mp3, and if it intrests you having access to your cell phone all via bluetooth. the headset mounts to your helmet, 3/4 or fullcace. It has the ability to pair with a your gps, telephone, mp3 and xm or sirius via bluetooth. The bike to bike communication is very good and is done via frs raidio at 900mhz. The devices I have successfully paired and used it with are, TomTom Rider2, Iphone 3GS, a philliphs bluetooth MP3 player. Sound quality is good from all devices and bike to bike communication is good to about 75mph. I am using a 3/4 helmet so some noise may be the type of helmet i use. So far radio range has been good up to about a mile, they say its good for two miles but I have not tested that. Great when you get seperated from the group. All in all i would say its a decent unit, that comes with a 3 year no hassell warrentee. This i have yet to test. The radios cost 239.00 a peace but seem to be worth the cost. they have 3 channels to talk on and you can get one of the channels programed to what they call a club channel "honda" Harley" ect. all in all its the answer i have been looking for.
