Hi..Billy and I will most likely stay and ride saturday, but I don't think we'll go quite as far as your going since we'll be heading back sunday am. I'll show Billy the map tonight..I printed it out. If we do/can go the full day with yall on Sat. that amount of riding won't bother either of us..we usually do a 300+ day anytime we go to the mountains. Unless your saying you don't want to ride that far in one day..and want to skip a stop or something on the map....just let me know..BB :)

OK..that map confused me...lol..are you going across the cherahola skyway ..towards cherokee and getting on the Blue Ridege parkway there....or a different way ??? I've only gotton on the BRP in cherokee or just outside Maggie Valley...so I guess I am confused about where your gettin on it at...the NC map I have appears to be missin one the roads on your google map..or I need new contacts...lol...Help a sister out..where ya gettin on the parkway..?? It's up to everyone..but if we do go that way..276 is clearly marked and you'll get the ride the parkway for about 45-50 miles I think...which is always good....and the ride back down thru Pisgah forest and Brevard to travelers rest is awesome...but I am sure you've been that way before.

ok.....my story is that I have scheduled the time off......from wed to wed....believe me, it wasn't easy....I expect a beer or two when we get together, after we stop riding for the day!! anyway, I am now going to get a GPS unit so I can plan my trip home....my daughter ( not some other female,BB) lives outside of Atlanta....and I see that Big-X has planned the ride saturday which ends near Rt 85....I can take that directly to her on sunday, so I may leave you guys on Sunday morning....but I am willing to plan the entire trip on the fly cause I'm coming alone!!!! that is 99% for sure...of course assuming nothing happens between now and that wed morning!! sooooo BB,GG,BigX....we'll see what kind of partyers you guys are!!!!!!:cheers:

74 from Kings Mtn to Columbus is four lane, once in Columbus it hooks up w/I-26 to around Asheville, after that I'm not clear weather it's four or two, the last time I rode 74 toward Tenn. it in 1974..........................my how time just slips on by.

Yup...that would be it...mapqest is the only one I know how to use , even a little..lol...shoulda seen me trying to figure out the county's and names to get the stupid map on the parkway..lol..SO yeah..pick up parkway in cherokee..and ride it all the way...woke up this am thinking of places to eat and gas..lol..Guessing we'll eat breakfast before we leave..We can get gas again near where the parkway crosses 19 at Maggie valley..stores there for snacks and drinks too or depending on time of day...lunch..gotta do a little research today...I don't think there's anywhere else to eat until you hit Mount Mitchell and thats only an hour or so from Little Switzerland....Gonna look on my Madd map and the parkway online...I know there are several roads that pull off the parkway to towns for lunch and gas..just gotta find them...but I guess your gps might be a better source of info...lol...don't want us to get stuck without food and gas...lol...:p

Hi folks, Just off of the parkway on 191 there is food and drink. There is Stone Ridge Tavern,(They have good food a little pricey but not to bad, I recommend it if your hungry and want a good place to socalize a little bit) Apollo Flame Bistro,( Good Greek salads, subs, and more. Closed Sundays) Ryan's steak house ( not my favorite), Mc Donalds, Subway, and Celebrity Hot Dogs,( Robert Pressley's Place) And if you want to ride about 3 miles from these places there is a J&S cafeteria, Sonic. Also in Oteen there are several places to eat and stretch. And of course Hwy 25 in Asheville.

The alpine Inn is good for me...75 a night...and only one mile from Switzerland Inn..I know you already made yours and wouldn't expect you to loose any to change it..but if I told him I was paying 130 - 140 for one night, he'd probably make me cut the ride short and go home or stay back in Maggie Vallley...so...I went ahead and made mine there (alpine inn)...we can always hang out together till bed time or whatever...I just know I wanna stay sat. night too so I am not taking any chances..lol...BB :)

That will be a good ride and give you time to stop at some overlooks, eat, and gas. I think trying to do it all in a day will be very tiring. Just my two cents. That's the plan. Ride the Dragon and Skyway on Friday afternoon. Then Parkway to Little Switzerland on Saturday. I'm going as far as Hwy 276 then heading south to Greenville.

I won't be able to make the ride:(
BUT, I will be going to east Tenn. the first week of Sept. going to the shades of the past rod run!! Also that week is my 32nd ann. so the c.e.o. says nope!!
We rented a cabin for the week for 565.00, as I was looking for a rental I noticed a rental that would sleep 68 people........think about it.........
It was in the area of 1500.00 per night, I'm sure they have one not as large....still thinking?
How about a run and everyone stay at the same place??? still thinking??

just a quick note to say that this was a wonderful ride......was better than any advanced rider's course!!!! everyone should ride the Dragon......what an experience!! the roads leading to it were as tough as the Dragon itself......an amazingly great bunch of folks......Big-X and the wife, Betty Boop and the husband, Green Ghost and the wife, Poolmaster and the wife, Catoma, and I dragged a buddy along from the Cleveland, Oh area!!!!! we all had too much fun!! how very nice to meet such terrific people that you only know thru the web site......everyone should get a chance to go on a ride like this one!!!!!! mine is not over, I stilll have to make it to Ashtabula, Oh...by way of Miami U of Ohio......I should have over 2000 miles on the bike when this is all over....thank goodness ofr the new GPS with tons of music loaded in it!!!! and special thanks to my new cruise control.......will post some pics when I get home in a few days...i'm sure Big-X and BB will do it sooner!!!! later!!

Yeah, we all had that "wet rat" look going on at the KFC. Even with the rain, I still had a blast. I'm ready to do it again.:choppersm

this ride was definately a wonderful event.......every minute was great....I knew you guys were wonderful people.....that's why I had to go and meet you!! even in the rain there was no evidence of negativeness!! I had some issues with the length of the ride, riding the twisties, riding the twisties in the rain....all gone because of the togetherness I felt with you guys!! I had no fear of doing the Dragon ...especially after BB said I could do it, no problem!! you can't imagine how much I didn't want to leave and come back to my real world.....I hope I get a chance to ride with all of you again in the future......especially so I can take some more great pics of BB!!!!:cheers:
