Kick stand safety switch

Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so what they did to fix it. I have a 2004 VTX-1300C, In the begining when the kickstand was being put in the up position I would lose all power until I moved the stand back and fore a few time and then the bike would be fine. Well Saturday I lost all power and I have taken the switch apart and check it as well as all fuses. Still no power. Help!!!!

Ad a similar situation on a Shadow. Turned out the kickstand was worn on the shaft and was hitting the switch at an angle. The plunger on the switch was bent and was sticking.

Might check that, and straighten the shaft if it is sticking at all. It is a soft metal and easily realigned with light hammer blows and a solid anvil-like surface. Check the kickstand at the same time; might need replacing or at the minimum a good greasing.

Check for tight plugs and intact wires. If the tank was removed lately, recheck those plugs.
