I am not sure about what you are asking here. If you have adjusted your carb you will need to give it a test ride. If it starts and runs OK then you need to run it on open road and see if there are any flat spots during accelleration. When you are in 5th gear at 60mph you need to hammer the throttle and see if there is hesitation (lean) or any stuttering (rich). If you feel either of those you will need to turn your A/F screw accordingly. You should be good to ride under either of those conditions but you should also correct these problems 1/4 turn at a time.

i guess what im asking is, i adjusted my carb "high five air cleaner" shimed the needle, removed last baffel in exhaust, six 1/2" holes in next baffel. removed the a/f screw put slot in it turned out 2-1/2 turns.. now bike starts good,,first gear is {{NICE}} the rest follow suit. I need to check my plugs and hammer it at 60mph. i guess my main ? is if my plugs look lean do i adjust the a/f screw, as well as if they look rich??... or do i adjust the a/f screw if i have a flat spot???.. i dont know where the a/f screw comes into play as far as performance??? thanks

this link will give you info on what is doing what in the carb.

Now if you are running rich at low speed the A/F would be turned in if lean you turn out.
very slight adjustments will also affect the higher speed to a point but not a bunch.
