Yup, I just did that for the first time the other day, i have the same pipes on the same bike.. It is real easy. there is a screw on each pipe at the back to undo the tips, remove that and pull off the tips. then there is another screw exactly the same about 4 inches up. undo those as well. then the baffles just slide right out. mine came out real easy. they are about 12 inch long tube that looks kinda like a cheese grater in the middle section of it. the screws are actually an allen screw, i think 3mm.
good luck.

One, the only way to do that is to actually remove the end cap(grind the weld). Remove the chrome, cut into the canister and remove the guts, then weld it all back together. Do the Clayton mod.! Less to deal with.

I have the same problem and needs some input as mine are welded and the end of it looks like x1800. I want to do clayton mod but nothing I have seen so far in 4 days of research even resembles my stock exhaust. (06vtx1300c) any help would be appreciated. I want loud pipes but stock look. Thanks

In order to remove the stock baffles you have to have some pretty good chopping and/or welding skills. I believe this is called the Kiwi mod.
I think I saw it on VTX garage. Clayton Root mod is simple, takes about 15 minutes.
There is also a company called VTXExhaust that will take your stock pipes, remove the baffles, and insert high performance baffles if you want o keep the stock look. If I remember, they ran around $350, so still cheaper than new pipes.

I was wrong; it's called the Cadena mod when you gut the pipes.
Here's a link to it on VTXOA.

You basically beat the pizzz out of things until they come out.
I believe the screw you're seeing is just for the end cap chrome piece.
If you scroll down in the thread, there's quite a bit of stuff crammed in there, so not really a simple job. I would be curious to hear a VTX with the stock pipes and NO baffles though. I'd bet it's got quite a bit of bite.
I'm now running Bub's with baffles, and it's plenty loud for me, as well as my neighbors.
Let us know if you get brave and try it.
