hello all,i have a 06 1300c and have a problem.I have a kury high5 air cleaner and gutted stock pipes, 3 radio shack washers under the needle,,a/f out 2.5 turns... running a small bit rich at idle, not bad though,,all gears are nice.but doing 85 for about five miles pulled in the clutch killed the engine coasted to a stop,, the plugs are telling me im runnin way to lean..the question i have now is what do i do now to add fuel the mix at that speed..?????

White plugs at 85? -- If the bike is lean at 85 mph and you are using the stock needle with 3 shims (0.06") then you need a larger mainjet.. give factory pro a call and order a #200, 205 & 210 that will give you a nice selection.. you will probably use the 205 with a shim or two under the stock Keihin needle... the factory pro model number for the main jets that you need to order is series 393 in the sizes that I mentioned..
Some also try a 58 pilot jet.. that may not be required, but is series 21 for the model number if you decide to get one...
The mainjets are about $3 apiece.. not sure on the pilot jet.
If the guy on the phone talks you into a factory pro "kit" that is about $70.. you don't need it... it comes with another needle that is shaped differently and therefore even larger jets must be used (the kit comes with those jets).
The experienced tuners are running the Keihin needle and the smaller jets (like the 205).

Yep my set up is a 2005 vtx 1300c with cobra speedster exhaust and stock air box with k&n filter and x-flame cut out to let more air in on the front chrome cover. with the factory pro kit i have this set up
215 main
58 pilot
4th notch on needle
stock slide spring
1-5/8 out on the air fuel screw
if you use factory pro's needle like i did you will need the 210 or 215 main like i did i think there needle tapers differt or is just a little thicker
but now my bike runs really good like this with the dyno jet kit it hesitated in the lower rpm area.

Hi Guys,
This last weekend my dad and I had our 1300's on the dyno with air/fuel. I have HK 2.75 exhaust and stock needle with one shim and AF 2.5 out. On the dyno it showed 57.11hp and 76.20 lb ft. Bike is a new '07 carryover with 900mi at the time of dyno. On the dyno the air/fuel ran between 12.0 and 13.0. between the 3-5000 rpm. The air fuel ramped progressively leaner peaking at 13.0 around 4800 then dropped back rich again back to 12.0. It's my understanding is that the optimum air/fuel ratio is around to 13.8:1. If that is the case it appears even with an aftermarket exhaust we're still lean. I'd guess the stock exhaust it would be more restrictive and more rich with stock exhaust.
Incidentally, my dads 03 1300 with an HK3 and K&N in a stock box with a Dynojet kit showed a better air/fuel at around 13:1 with the DJ195 main.
I'm waiting for a Keihin 190 main for mine to try to lean out the mixture and see what happens next chance on the dyno.
Have others actually had their air/fuel measured? If so, comments regarding if you've seen the 13's are too rich from the factory in regard to the main jets which I understand to control wide open throttle?
Thoughts? Thanks, Mat in MN
