Does anyone know how this system sounds. I haven't been able to hear it (our local dealers don't have any hooked up just display) and I can't see spending 600 bks for it and it sound like a tin can speaker.:icon_bs:
Thanks Richard

I'm with Richard. Anybody heard the system? Not sure I want to put a full fairing on my bike. This might be an alternative. Sounds would have made our Key West trip more enjoyable!

Hello, Went to a Honda Dealer today and they had the Factory Honda Line amp on a Vtx 1300.I have a set of speakers and amp I got off EBay and use a Sony Walkman(Clock,AM,FM,TV,Weather band)The factory set up with my Sony Walkman you could verly hear above idle and the bike it was on did't have a windsheild and when riding could't hear at all.My setup you can hear at 90mph with a 3/4 helmet on.I also have stock pipes so I guess if you have really loud pipes you might have trouble hearing mine at speed.I have rode with louder bikes and I can hear my radio ok and riding with another bike with stock pipes they can hear my radio at 70mph.Look in my photo galiery and you can see my setup.$120 for speakers and amp off EBay and $25 for Walkman at Walmart. You can hook up an IPOD to my system also. They also sell an amp and speakers for $280 from Cycle Sounds which has larger speakers but mine sounds as good.To sum it up the factory Honda line isn't worth the money, hope this helps,Mike Z

I've got an XM that I use in my semi during the week and I absolutely love it!!..I'd like to adapt it to the bike, but I'm a musician, and VERY critical about sound quality...I can't stand tinny sounding systems..I realize that I can't install a "10 sub, but I'd like decent output at the very least...There's a few different systems out there, but I think I'd need to hear them before I'd buy one....

I have the honda sound system on a bike with a memphis phats, I use a sansa for the player, it does lack any low base, but the volume is adjustable at low speeds as well as high speeds so I can hear it at 90 mph as well as 20 mph. As far as the $600. price tag try Mason City Honda (in Iowa)(http://www.masoncityhonda.com/ (http://www.masoncityhonda.com/)) I got mine for $400.00, free shipping and about 2 hours to install.

So I have resigned my self to just wearing a pair of thin headphones under my helmet hooked to my MP3 Player. Good enough for now till something better comes along.

Stock Mild 2 Wild in Jacksonville, FL sells chrome plated power cones that mount on the 2 Wheel Tunes between the speakers and the grills. The difference in sound quality and volume is dramatic. You can call them at 904-389-1177 or check them out at www.stockmildtowild.com.

Does anyone know how to modify the hondaline digital audio system? The automatic volume control sucks at idle and until about 25. I was expecting to be able to hear it at Idle with stock pipes!:patriot:
The most sound you can get out of this! With the power off to the amp hold down the mute button for 4 seconds the light will blink twice! AVC (automatic volume control) is turned off and you have control of volume. Not that it is loud, but you have sound at idle that you can hear. I just want to hear my music at stop lights and anywhere I am riding under 100! :patriot:

i saw one in action at the Internatioal bike show in Chicago, in a crowded convention center with all the crowd noise it sounded ok, but for the money they were asking I wood want to see how it sounded on the road, with and with out a helmet. coodnt take much to ripp it off tho. so beware were you park this hi dollar unit.
Because it is mouted on my bike and included in my Insurance. On another note the sound is ok at low speeds with no bass so to speak. At about 65 or more no sound. If a song peaks maybe a little bit, save your money! As I said before unless you like Automatic volume control? Once you figure out how to turn it off it's better, but needs more push at high speeds. SAVE YOUR MONEY:patriot:

I haven't been able to find a solution that was
1. inexpensive
2. quickly removable
3. fit the look of the bike.
So I decided to design my own sound system. A College buddy owns a professional body shop and we are trying to come up with a carbon fiber or form injected speaker/amp/mp3 housing that is stylish and contains all of the benefits I described above. We are currently on Rev 2 of the design and have met the 2 later specs. So far we have created a molded "box" that uses the existing windshield mounts and have it wired with a "single" wire to power (of course it include ground/power) with a quick disco connector. We have also integrated a Ipod dock connector into it for music playback (b/c that what we use). We are still trying to find the right materials to use to keep cost down while still providing good looks and sturdiness. I will include pictures of the finished product so you can tell me what you think.

You could also try designing in a inexpensive multiple card reader, liek the xD/sD chips, for compact music playing right from your PC...

After a lot of searching I came across these the other day and ordered them. I have yet to receive them, but after I get them mounted I will let everyone know how they are. Pros are that it has double the watts of the 2 wheel tunes, at half the price. The 2 wheel tunes speakers are smaller and blend in more however, as well as come with a waterproof amp if I remember correctly.
I will be using them in conjunction with a Garmin Zumo 450 GPS with MP3 capability. I already wired a relay with a distribution block so I have one place to hook up any accessories without running multiple cables to the battery. If anyone is interested in how I did it, I can take some pictures of everything installed. Also, here's a link to the site I used as a guide (and I had zero experience with doing this stuff). I plan on putting in a switch when I figure out where I want it so that I can switch between constant and keyed-on power. http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/relay.php
Okay a little later on down the road SAVE YOUR MONEY! I put on pipes and have a new digital audio system coming Friday! On stock pipes you might be able to hear them at 60 and I say might I have a windshield so if you don't have this you can't hear them at maybe 30! I will let ya know on the 150 watt system dwg has! Honda system is only 20 watt system! I think I payed from the stealer 300 + buck for it!:patriot:
This is what I orderd

I have the Honda sound bar and even though I'm picky about my sounds and love my lows .......got to say that although its over priced overall I'm happy with it. Aesthetics was a big part of it as I didn't want these huge round speakers bolted on to my handlebars. They're definitely suited better for certain types of music and good quality mp3's. If you listen to really raw and messy metal ........no go .........sounds terrible on these. However good quality Van Halen .........even good quality less busy Metallica songs sound pretty good. Does lack bass but that's a given before you buy it. Acoustic or acoustic rock, southern rock, classic rock, and TONS more tight less busy music sounds really really good. Like I said though if your mp3's are crap .....you get out what you put in.
Overall ........price tag too big .........look great .........sound quality fair to good ........volume outstanding .........hand controller is perfect .......not for everybody.
