I have the garmin and like it alot. Paid a lot more for it too:harder:. It is very easy to use (not a lot of bells and whistles). Make sure you get the 08 maps with this one, otherwise you are out another $70 big ones to bring it up to date. :choppersm

Dano...I've been thinking about getting a GPS too. Only other question I would ask is, do these have to be specifically designed for motorcycles, or do most have an MC "adapter" so you can mount to the handle bars.

Back in April, my car club was doing a driving tour of northern Indiana...The leader of the group was in his 1996 Cadillac 6-door funeral limo, and using a GPS....He took us on a couple of wrong turns, due to the fact that those GPS units aren't a substitute for common sense...We were headed to an entrance for the Indiana toll road, and he drove right by it, into Michigan before he figured out that he missed it...I saw it, and told Jenny that we needed to turn around..Then later that day, he took us on another wrong turn, down into a residential area on a lake that was a dead end....So here's three 6-door limo's, and five hearses, on a one-lane road that dead ends...Then we had to turn around..These cars are all over 20 feet long, so it was real interesting to see I'm sure....Welll, nobody knocked down any mailboxes, or scuffed any fenders or bumpers, and we made it to our destination....The lesson here is to also use common sense, and read road signs...I've been in over 20 different states driving a semi, and never used a GPS to this day....Rand McNally works for me...

I have the Garmin c340. I got it from Buydig.com for 217.00 Got it in two days. It tells you the name of the street and which way to turn. Just one step up from the c330. I got a ram mount for the bike. I also wired a 12 volt tap to keep the unit charged. I have a 12 volt power port and the USB cable plugged into it. Works great. I've used it a couple of times, when I was not sure which way to go. Real good on twisty roads so you can see the turn before you get there.

Here is the mount for your motorcycle.

Like I said, I ran a fused line up to the ram mount and have a USB to 12 volt adapter plugged into the outlet and the other end of the USB plugged into the side of the Garmin c340 for power. The battery in the c340 last around six to eight hours.

This comes with an iPod charger (not a dock) cable and the 'Spare' Garmin USB charger. You also have a 110v and a 12v charge port.

I saw a dual USB 12v charger plug somewhere. Do not have it but want it. So I can charge the iPod and Garmin c340 at the same time off the motorcycle power port.

BG Pete, I bought a handlebar mount which was designed for a cell phone, but since the faceplate was flat and rectangular I used it for my GPS. All I did was add Velcro and it works flawlessly. When it rains, I can put a plastic sandwich bag over it. The GPS has never loosened or fallen off no matter how fast I go.

I have been looking at GPSs for a while. I will buy the Garmin ZUMO 550. IT is water proof and made for bikes and comes with a bike mount from what I can tell. I am waiting for prices to come down a bit. I want something that will be great for bikes and cars so I don't mind spending a little more.

to BubbaJePH, check out www.powerlet.net (http://www.powerlet.net) for a good selection of power ports, they have a couple of different ones for dual outlets.

I got the Magellan Maestro 3210 thru Dell for $199...it's still on sale.

Got a RAM mount already for the camera so I'll get the adapter for the GPS.

Zip lock bag plus zip ties...makes it water proof and saves $600.

I agree with mscales on the Garmin ZUMO 550. Been watching this one for quite a while. Doesn't look like the price is ever going to come down.

Boy I hear you on that one, the price of this GPS is sky high. It has some of the best features I have seen on any GPS and is MC specific. I would like to see it drop at least 100.00 so that I can actually consider :hmm2: purchase.

I just bought a C330 on Black Friday at Wally World for 128.00... so far it's "ok" but has done some weird stuff... like want to loop me around a road on the way home that cleary goes out of the way... my house is a few hundred yards in front of me in a straight line and the GPS wants to take me around a loop road about 1/2 mile longer route... I also plugged in the nearest ATM for my bank and it led me to a secluded spot on a back road with not even a house in site let alone a bank... not real confident in it's abilities so far :-(

I hear there. I think after the first of the year it will come down a bunch. The cheapest I have found so far is $619 and that is down about $100 from about March/April of this year.

Ok, finally gave in and got the bike a Christmas present. Garmin Zumo 550 GPS. I've been looking at this for a long time and finally gave in and spent the $619. I've had it about a week and this thing is really SWEET!! I am amazed at how accurate this thing is. It is real user friendly and I would recomend it to anyone looking for a GPS. Only thing is, its a little expensive, but since I can easily use it in the car and on the bike I figure it's worth it. Of course now I'm in the market for a bluetooth headset to go along with this. If anyone has any suggestions or recomendations on a bluetooth headset let me know.

Well I've tried the Bluetooth in the car with my cell phone (LG) and it seems to work fine. I haven't got the headset yet, there on order. I got the BueAnt Interphone Headsets. From the reviews it seemed to get a little better reviews than Scala. Hope I haven't made a mistake. I'll let everyone know after I've had a chance to try it. Of course it sure would be nice if it was summer, so I could really get out and test this. I still love the Zumo 550 - it works great.
