apple has got to be one of the best marketers in the universe-from computers to software and tunes for your personal liking. For those of you who ride with tunes streaming from your ipod while you ride, apple has come out with a speaker system that can be attached to the handlebars of a bike-not sure about the bars of a motorcycle-so you don;t have to wear annoying earphones or plugs-and no wires running up to your ears messing with your style.
See this and read the reviews for yourself at apple.com: or cut an paste this url into your browser window:

Would like to know if anyone out there has tested this???
Cheers...

Have not tested this, but... I do have an Ipod and have used it with an earplug in one ear (don't want to be too tuned out of my surroundings). On that note though, are there laws against headphones while riding? I would assume maybe it varies by state. I'm in NC and havent read up on laws like this yet.

Read the reviews on Apple's own site. If this is not rugged or loud enough for a bicycle then a motorcycle would be out of the question.

As per the AMA website, there are no restrictions on helmet speakers in NC, if one would choose to use them.

Yeah, laws are against "headphone use" , not helmet speakers , go figure. I think its because you put the "buds" in your ear, as a helmet speaker is attached to the helmet and not IN your ear.

If you own CD's - you can just put those on it. Just rip them to your hard drive, and itunes can use them. A 4GB ipod can hold thousands of songs.
I am sure there are ways to tranfer old LP's , tapes, etc....not sure what software / hardware is required for that though. CD's are really easy though...just pop them in the CD-Rom drive.

Well I have a MP3 plug in on the HD radio so it comes out the bike speakers, On the VTX I would use the SURE EC2 ear buds. They work very well for around $99. GG :D

Love my Mp3. How do I keep my full face helmet from ripping my ears out along with the ear buds? Puting the helmet on is ok, taking it off is a circus.

The E2C's go inside your ear canal so removing your helmet is painless.

Actually there are lots of sites where you can download songs for FREE. I just finished downloading 130 songs to fit onto my iTune. all free. You're not going to find "big" artists giving away for free, but you can find artists out there wanting to get recognized with some great music, and even occassion find some who are well known offering up a few. You'll just have to search.
Check out www.download.com for some great free tracks.

There are also People that will download songs to your Ipod for you. I have a High School Chick down the road that does all the work for $20.00 per 512MB or $35.00 per GB. I just make out a play list and leave it with her. Beats sitting by the computer. Check with some of the school kids in your area. You can probaly find a better deal than this. These teens need gas money, Along with money to buy CDs and more music. It's a no brainer for me. GG :D

I bought a set of Sony head phones, cut the speaker parts off and they fit good in the speaker recesses in my helmet. bad thing is the long wire hanging down when I take the bucket off, well address that problem by tying it up and getting a ext cord from RAdio shack.

Just heard the sound system at the International Bike Show at the World Congress Center this past weekend-not worth the money-very little bass and tinny sounding. Ear plugs and an iPod is my choice. Again-personal preference.

You guys should look into "peer-to-peer" file sharing. There are programs which allow you to lsearch for music that other people with the same program have saved to their hard drive in a "shared" folder. Some programs are linked together through a network allowing an even broader range of users. We're talking THOUSANDS of users with MILLIONS of songs!!! You just click the song(s) and save it to your computer. Then you import these songs into your i-tunes library. You can find ANY song in a matter of seconds and download it in less than 30 seconds on average.
And as someone mentioned above, find a buddy with a bunch of songs on their computer and just copy them to an external drive and bingo... you have a crap load of music for free.
Ipod / I-tunes are great because you can load playists on and off with ease, all controlled from your computer. If you already have an "MP3" player, all that music will load into I-tunes by the way.
