I apologize if this is the incorrect location for this post!
I have recently purchased some replacement steel braided cables and have replaced the clutch (easy) and want to replace the throttle cables as well. I looked at the setup and it appears to be a little more involved.
Has anyone done this upgrade and could you give this non wrench some step by step instructions. P-P-P-Please!
If you had a picture or two any additional assitance would be appreciated!

I would be more than happy to chronicle this mod as it happens if I can ever find out how to.
I can say that the clutch was pretty straight forward. Braced the clutch with a small peice of wood to keep tension on and disconnected old at the lever aasembly (reusing adjustment screw on new cable) and disconnected at the clutch. Replaced in reverse working back to the lever.
Made a few adjustments and that was it. I probably didn't do it the way a mechanic would but it worked for me.
Note; End of cable just a tad larger than OEM, needed to wiggle a bit to get in the slot. (had to remove bracket holding cable and then replace (far right of picture))
It took me about 30-45 minutes :( Could have been worse I guess.

ok so i m just now realizing u have a 1300 not a 1800, lol. explains the clutch cable considering mine is hydraulic. i would think that the throttle would be a bit easier honestly. u figure the right grip houseing needs to be opened to give access to the wire connection, and if im right it can be loosened oand removed down underneath near at the carb....i would take the air cleaner off and look around. ill check online and see if i can find a pdf for the how to..

I have a 1800c that I changed the cables on about a year ago and although I didn't document the whole procedure and sequence I will say that it wasn't that hard. You have to take the throttle body apart to disconnect the inner wires and you have to take the air box off to get to the wires at that location. You may have to loosen the tank a little to feed the new cables up underneath. As I recall I hooked up the new wires at the throttle handle first and then hooked up the wires at the intake. I did not have to change any adjustments to the cables at all. My new cables were from Barnett and they fit perfect. I was expecting the project to be a lot more trouble than it really was actually. It took a little bit of determination to hook the second pair of wires up only because only because there is limited working area. A second set of hands at certain time might come in handy also. All in all it wasn,t that hard and it took about an hour. They look great on the bike and work flawlessly. let me know if you have any questions

it is pretty straight forward
disassemble throttle assembly by removing the two screws on the bottom be carefull to use proper size phillips as not to strip screw heads as they are in tite
next
remove seat and tank to access the cable connections at carb
when carb is visible it will be very clear as to what need to be done from there
install new cables same as ones removed
it is not a high difficulty job, no harder than the clutch cable ,, it does require more disassembly to get to than the clutch
once you are into the build it should not be more than an hour to swap out the old for new have faith in yourself and just dive in
