i just did the internal wiring for the handlebar controls and as much as i like the look, i cant help but wonder whether or not it would be possible to drill through the top plate of the triple trees so that the 2 bundles of wire would come out of the dimples and shoot straight down and into the headlight assembly...has anyone ever tried / done this ??? any answers would be appreciated, ty. heres 2 pics of what im talking about. mike

Since I am right behind you in this mod I would be interested in some of the responses. I just checked my TT and found that there is a ridge directly below the holes where the wires come out, I would think that would be the worst location. The TT supports everthing and even the smallest holes may cause it to become weaker/dangerous.
Need someone with modding/machining experience to step and answer this one.

Yes I have drilled a hole in the top tree. But not on the renforcing ribs. I posted a pic a while back. If I can find it I'll post it again. Better to find you another top plate and drill it. I put a third riser on some beach bars with the center of the riser milled out. GG :D

Here is a third riser for the beach bars added to a 1300 top plate, The center of the riser base was also milled out to let the wires pass threw the bars threw the riser into the headlight bucket. This had to be on the money so I removed the top plate to bore the hole and mill out the riser. They do make a cover that goes between your bar risers and would let you drill a hole in the center of your top plate to hide your wires. If I run across one I'll be happy to post it for you. GG :D

That is pretty ingenious, I would have never thought of that.

Green, have u noticed, or did u notice any difference in the stiffness after that having that 3rd hole drilled in the tt ? just wondering whether it would weaken the plate itself or not. also i checked some of your pics out sweet ride, did u replace the 3 riser bars or was that a dif bike ? im getting bored in the chilly days again and need a project, lol
