Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I just bought a brand new '06 VTX 1300C last week. Looking forward to getting some accessories for it and hitting the road (assuming it ever stops snowing here in Maine!)

Thanks for the warm welcome everbody! Does anyone have any good recommendations for a comfortable after-market seat? I am looking for something that would be comfortable for both me and my wife, who will be riding with me quite frequently. Thanks!

Just get your stock seat modified, alot cheaper than an aftermarket seat...http://www.meancitycycles.com/

Thanks for the advice. I took a look at the Mean City Cycles website. My concern with the passenger seat is that it it too narrow. Do the modifications made to the seat fix that, or do they just add different foam to it?

I just noticed you have a "C" model...Yeah, the passenger section is rather small...That was a big reason for me buying a "R" model...Give Allen a call, explaining what you want..He'll steer you in the right direction...I just got my seat back from him a couple weeks ago..One of these days the snow will go away so I can try it out!!!..
Welcome to the sight. You will find a world of information here. I just started riding again after a long time of not having a ride. Good bunch of people and always willing to help. I spent many a night here trying to get caught up on the newer bikes and learning what not to do.
I hope you bought a silver bike....some won't admit it but the are the fastest.

I did buy a silver one! We'll see if it's the fastest one or not once the snow melts (probably mid June here in Maine!). We just got another eight inches of the white stuff last night. It's killing me having the bike in the garage and not being able to ride it. I'll give Mean City Cycles a call and see what they recommend. I just want a comfortable seat for my wife and myself, without having to spend a fortunes (like buying a Mustang). Thanks for all the help everyone!

Well, as far as seats, there is always eBay...you can get a good deal on occassion there...
Niow about faster, a buffed out BLACK is fastest, especially if your talking ALOT of polished chrome!
BTW- You have found one of the best places for a VTX owner to learn, converse, and modify their ride. And no matter what your family says, food and shelter do NOT take precidence over the VTX! Modify away, mortgage the house if ya gotta!

I explained to Alan that I needed the seat wider for my wife to feel comfortable. He did manage to get it a bit wider (and a LOT softer) but there's only so much that he can do with what's there. I'd echo the advice above and recommend that you give him a call to see. He'll know what he can do and will let you know. For the riders seat I can't remcommend his work enough. You can't make a bigger change in the ride comfort anywhere near the price he charges for his mods... great value.
