Greetings!
I've got a meeting in June for about a week at the Adam's Mark in what looks like downtown Dallas. Thought it might be a great excuse for a long ride down from up here in Northern WI.
How worried should I be about parking my bike in the hotel lot or at any of the places I'll be cruising to in the evenings? Think I'll need an alarm, extra lock, few extra rounds for my .45, etc.?
:hmm2:

Wisconsin is much worse than Texas. You will just need to be leary of the Dallas traffic. Might need a few extra rounds if you are going to shoot the stupid female tailgaters tho.

Wisconsin is absolutely terrible. Just try going outside in shorts, with no shirt or shoes for about 30 minutes right now. You might even die. It is absolutely disgusting. Too many DemocRats too. If it weren't for illegal aliens, Texas wouldn't have much crime at all. Cept for the fat rednecks walking around half naked.

I think you and your bike will be fine here in Dallas. Like shreveportSS said,"You will just need to be leary of the Dallas traffic." All of the roads and highways in the DFW area are in great shape...just busy.
I think it might come down to your hotel accomodations. Make sure there are plenty of lights in the hotel parking lot and, if you're lucky, a security camera or two.
An extra lock would be comforting (and something I would do), but not needed. I have no doubt you will run into plenty of other bikers during your nights out!

i always thought these were cool and inexpensive http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRENADE-DISC-BRAKE-ROTOR-CHROME-LOCK-MOTORCYCLE-HARLEY_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34284QQihZ024QQi temZ370022399385
it's a good way to lock your bike up. with this and your steering locked. it would be hard for someone to try to get it on a trailer.

Take from a female in Texas, Not all Texas Female drivers are bad!! The soccer moms get a little possessive of the road at times but i'm sure it's not any worse than most large cities. The Adams Mark probably has a garage to park in and you should be fine as long as you have a lock. Call the hotel and see what the parking is like.

Yeah, I have to go with the consensus. The traffic is more a worry for a new-to-Big-D rider than theft at the Adams Mark Hotel downtown. Texas X riders have weekly meet and greets on alternating saturdays and sundays ever week if you're here over a weekend. http://www.texasxriders.com/index.php?board=20.0

You'll be fine here in Dallas. Just a few blocks away is a cool biker bar to check out called Reno's.
