satellite gps is hit and miss in some areas too actually...just depends on the road in relationship to the mountains. sometimes you can only have sight on one satellite...until you turn a curve, and pick up another satellite for the triangulation...and lose the first one.

Not to mention the first year I came up by myself, I couldn't even get my garmin to recognize the address for the pokey. I just had to put in some random address on the same street and luckily when I got close I ran across 5-6 bikes at a gas station. As I pulled in I realized one bike was one of the local Vtx guys, baker6x6. So I then just proceeded to follow them to the hotel. Trust me, you don't want to be lost in west by god Virginia. Scary place.

There's a big, yellow orb in the sky that can direct you almost any direction you want to go during daylight hours. Traversing is a lost art. Sigh.

Not all of us grew up with sun dails or had to use the sun and stars for navigation. We now have these new fangled inventions called watches and gps. Guess that's just the older crowd who still use those lost arts. No wonder you know how bruche.

There's also a map.... I had to use a map in KY on a fishing trip where we had no satellite signal, I showed it to my son (who was maybe 6 or 7 at the time) and he says "how do you make it work?"... LOL
