Bought another c/t and tried it. Michelin and Bridgestone, both at 125 psi, sitting in the hot sun for hours, and no seating. So, just for sheets and giggles I tried putting the old m/c tire back on. Butter smooth.
BOTH c/ts have fought me even to mount them on the rim, and I have a manual tire changer with proper tools to do the job. And then for neither to seat, so I took it as an omen, and am putting on a new Michelin Commander II.
I've never had a problem seating a c/t on one of my cast wheels-----VTX 1800R, and GoldWing. Guess I have two new c/ts for those bikes when the time comes.
Sorry to hear that, first time I have heard of a CT refusing to seat. They're a PITA occasionally but twice in a row, must not be holding your mouth right!!!!!
From what i have heard the spoked wheels are larger than the cast wheels making it harder to seat a bead.
