2005 Honda vtx 1300s Honda frustration

    Getting frustrated with Honda

My mc causes me starting problems only in the morning.

When I start my bike in the morning, it runs for about 1/2 minute and then it stops. After it stops, I can turn over the bike many times but it won't start. This happens if I use the choke or if I don't use it.

The only way I can start it is to remove the spark plug ( after I remove it I examine plug and note that it is dry with no wet gas on it), I then pour some gas into the cylinder, reinstall spark plug and wire, hit the start button and then it runs from the gas I put in. I have to do the whole process for a second time. After the second time the bike runs normal and it does not stall--I can now ride the bike the whole day no lack of power, no hesitation, no rough idling. During the day I can park the bike and restart it as many times as I want with no starting problems. However the next morning the probability of this all happening again is high. I now carry a siphon hose on my bike -- just in case I have to put gas in the cylinder.

Honda checked the bike out and cannot find a problem.

    I would appreciate any suggestions.

Kinda reaching a little bit here.If the plug is dry, means no fuel. Check the vaccuum line that runs from the petcock to a T connection.( Working from memory here,) Why it runs fine after a coupla primings? Guess it might be a vaccuum leak that closes up after the engine throws a bit of heat.

    Just a guess.

just thought you may like to know.

The problem turned out to be a petcock that wasn't hold a vacuum. replaced petcock and all is well.

    thanks again for your comment
