Glen Devries sent me a prototype bike alarm to install on my ride, and them give you all the details....Got around to installing it last evening, and it went on pretty straight forward, with no real issues at all....It's actually a good thing I did this, as I found the positive battery lead was almost loose enough to cause me to need a push start....This kit is already pre-wired, ready to install on your bike....Comes with a toggle switch, positive lead with a mini-fuse holder, a relay, and enough wire to just plug-and-play....I already installed a Glen's turnsignal beeper/four-way-flasher on mu bike over the winter, and I gotta say that he knows his stuff, and knows how to make an instruction sheet!!!!....Best instructions I've ever seen...Complete with detailed text, and pictures of the installation on his own bike....The hardest part of the whole thing was figuring out wich of the horn leads was the positive side...Needed to dig out the test light, and have Jenny help me a bit there to operate the horn button for me...Make sure that you have the horn leads hooked up correctly, or you'll blow the fuse that comes with it (Yeah, I blew the fuse trying to figure out another problem)...Also had a minor issue with the sensor..The horn would just continually blare, no matter what position the bike was in...I gave Glen a call on his cell, and we quickly diagnosed the problem to the way I had the sensor mounted on the bike frame....Within a couple minutes, I had it working right (How's that for customer service???)....My install took a bit longer than it should have, as I pulled the tank, and hid the wire going to the horn...I possible could've just ran it along the frame, but I want as many wires hidden from sight as possible....Got the bike all buttoned back up, and tried it out....Anybody that tries to upright the bike off the sidestand will need a change of underwear, as this is going to scare the crap out of them!!!!!!....It was very loud, even with the stock horn...You guys running the Stebel will probably cause heart failure!!!!...That will be OK, as then you'll be able to have the scumbag trying to steal your ride hauled off to jail.....

As everybody knows, if someone wants it bad enough, they'll get it...But this, along with locking the forks, will make a thief possibly go looking for an easier target....Maybe I can get a discount on my insurance now...

Aftere the alarm sounds, does the horn turn off when the bike is placed back on the side stand, or do you have to 'disable' it with the toggle?

Does the horn sound continuously, or does it "beep-beep-beep" ?

I guess if the thief was calm and knew his way around a bike, he could just unplug/snip the wires to the horn,,,,

(As you stated, if they want it bad enough,,,!)

Overall, it seems like a pretty good idea fo $35!

It sounds off continuously (Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep), until the bike is put back on the sidestand.....Then it shuts off....

I'm paranoid about my 1800 being taken. It's locked in my garage with the steering locked and a dirty big cable through the rear wheel, ends clamped together with an alarmed padlock. . . . . just so I can sleep

Ok, I finally got around to installing mine. I had ordered it for the 1300, but since I had the seat off testing another members computer I decided to install it on my 1800. (now I need to order another one...lol)

The install is simple...if you can read and understand photos (color ones at that) then it's a simple install. I did it from start to finish in 20 minutes tops. Since my horn is under the tank I had to guess at which was the + wire...50/50 chance and of course I got it wrong. Simply test the alarm before you finish things up (for me pulling the tank up a bit).

I did alter the directions a little bit. I was not crazy about the location of the switch, I moved the switch location to the frame rail lateral versus the vertical one, this placed the switch under the seat, in a position more out of view and away from the weather. I could also arm the alarm from the seated position and not be obvious versus the other position. I plan on painting the switch and putting a black rubber cover over it to make it blend...

In this photo you can see the switch, the balance, and the relay. The only thing I would change would be the black wire from the balance to the relay, it could be about 1" longer to allow more room for mounting. I just laid the relay in there.

From the side you can see the switch...which is why I'm gonna paint it...but you could see it from the other position too.

I think this is a great addition, and will order one from Glen in the near future. Anything that makes thieves move on to an easier target is a good investment. Plus it will be fun to watch one of my friends go to sit on the ride and need to change their shorts! hahah

Did you pull your bike into the house to work on it or do you have hardwood in your garage?

That's plywood flooring in the building. Don't think I didn't ask about pulling the bike in the house back during the rebuild.

How much draw on the battery?

None unless the mecury switch completes the circuit, them what ever the horn draws until in shuts off.

Since I added the Stebel (in addition to the stock horn), I'm afraid that if someone sets it off in front of my motel room, I'll wet the bed....

Yep I have the stebel air horn and the stock too, should scare the crap out of the culprit.

I've since changed the stock horn with a 132 db (electric, not air) horn. Its' deeper tone blends well with the higher pitched Stebel. Scares ME when I honk the horn. (I have to admit, I use the horn(s) more often than really necessary) The horn I used as a replacement for the stocker came from AutoZone...about $20.00.
