Order one before you even read this lol! My bike was running really rich and smelled like gas pretty bad. I was going to do a pair valve mod so I decided to do this at the same time since it was all going to be apart. The directions to install the a/f screw from Glen was awesome. It takes abit over an hour to do it. Make sure you use a small mirror and actually watch the screw turn out. Screw it all the way in to seat it and then watch it turn out 2.5 turns. After I did the pair mod and dialed it in 2.5 turns. I simply twist the trottle afew times and bingo... Like everyone says don't use the choke!!! My bike is running better than ever and no gas smell or black smoke on start up. Its probably one of the best mods you can do!

I got one of the first to be made, and it is well worth the money. Once it is added you can make adjustments anytime and anywhere, no tools needed. Recommend it to all.

Installed k&n air filter in my stock 1300R, needed a/f tweaked. Installed perm. a/f screw from glens vtx garage, makes adjustments soooo easy. Screw handle sits just below idle adjusting screw. I found that 2-1/2 turns out still a little rich, without this new tool i would have had to waste a lot more time dissassembling and readjusting. worth every penny. Best a/f tool on the market in my opinion, easy too follow instructions included.

This tool is worth it!!!!!!
I just received my A/F tool from Glen's VTX Garage. I have never been able to get all the "popping" to go away. I have attempted adjust the A/F mix in the past with a little tool from a rejet kit and only burned my hands and no luck. I adjusted my A/F today with the tool without removing anything-I have a hypercharger so I could get to it. Anyway, I started with a couple turns, no exact chemistry, and took it for a test. My only regret is that I didn't come up with the idea. If you own a 1300 and plan to do anything to the exhaust or air intake, save yourself some headaches and buy it now!!!!!!!

I have one and consider it money well spent event though I've not had to adjust the A/F once I got it dialed in. The point is that I'll be able to do so with ease should the need ever arrise.

+1 on the permanent screw. I, too, found that 2.5 turns out is too much for me. I'm at about 2 turns out. No more flat spots on WOT and I can't make it backfire if my life depended on it. Of course, I ordered in late Fall '09, so this coming riding season will be the true test. Actually, the true test will be the Beartooth and Chief Joseph, to name a few, as I will be riding them in August as part of my Sturgis journey.
Is it Spring yet????? I got an itch and can't scratch it!

I've installed the clutch relief and it does just what it says "relief!" A lot less effort on shifting. I have the A/F adjustment (permanent) too from Glen and I'll be installing that when I'm ready to tackle some other things under the tank. I expect that to work just as well.

Okay after reading all these comments from you guys with stock air boxes and after market pipes I went ahead and ordered one this morning. I had always thought this was needed for the guys who had opened up the air flow. We'll I guess I'll find out when it gets here.

Get the permanent one; I wasted $35 buying the temporary model, cause I can't reach my screw due to hoses, etc.
(wonder if Glen takes trade-ins?) CW

VTX 1300's are Notoriously Lean from the factory. This was done to pass emissions standards. Once you get your hands on it tho, you can give the stock setting about 1/8 to 1/4 turn out to richen it up and "wake up" the engine a bit. This doesn't really affect mileage in a drastic manner. If you "open up the airflow" with an aftermarket Air Intake or Decapitate the Stock Air Box, you will need to do the SCAR Mod. -Gonz

Mines on order!
I have one on order, but can anyone tell me if this mod is sufficient or do I have to do the scar mod? I thought that this would do the same thing...I have recently installed Cobra Slashdowns and plan on doing the Spyker Mod to my air box.
Also can anyone tell me how to find this post again? I am kind new, can you tell? |

Got mine the other day in the mail. Only thing left to order (prior to our Tech Session in May) is the Edelbrock filter from Doug's.
Can't wait to do Pair Valve removal, Scar mod, AF Screw mount (sounds kinky doesn't it?), Valve adjustment and Edelbrock filter install. Heck I probably will do oil change too while bike is in various stages of work! ![]()
